I'M not your mother.
I'm not negative, I'm just saying what is happening here in Quebec. I agree with you on all your points, but the companies here just like youngsters, (18-30). The unemployment in my city was 15% for about 10 years in a row, now it is about at 9%. Work is hard to find here, and when they do hire, guess what, it's youngsters. Why??? Even on TV, all you see here is youngsters. On the news, youngsters. This is the way it is in french Quebec.
I found an article on this subject. I just posted a few lines.
Most employers prefer to hire youngsters - partly because they are cheaper, partly because they can be made to work harder and longer and partly because there is prejudice against older workers.

I am glad for these people who found work at such an advanced age, but what does the company have to gain by hiring people who produce less and will miss work more often because of their age.

That is very nice if she has a college degree at 57 years old, but she will never be hired.
If a man/woman goes to college and comes out at 45 years old for example, what company will want to hire him/her?
Where I live, companies are not even interested in hiring above 35 years of age.
So if you want to go back to school, it's your choice, but don't expect the company where you apply to see things your way. They have their own criteria in hiring.
I'm talking about my corner of the world. Maybe it's different elsewhere.

since leaving the watchtower, do you still believe that you will live forever, here on earth?
some might think that heaven is the final destiny, while other may just believe in this short life and nothing else.
what is your belief and how does it affect your daily life?

yesterday alone the price of gasoline went up 9 cents a liter here in eastern canada passing from 68 to 77 cents a liter.
a one day jump of 9 cents a liter is equal to about 40 cents a gallon.
so now we pay 77 cents a liter or 3.50$ a canadian gallon.
I took a ride to Montreal today, and I saw the gas at 77.4 a liter. Thats quite alot. It's up and down. I guess if the US attacks Iraq, then it will go up to 80+.
Thanks Scully for your observation

in pictures: world trade center plans .
seven new plans for the site of the world trade center, destroyed in the 11 september terror attacks, have been unveiled in new york.
They want to build big and tall, because they need office space. Although 2 big skyscrapers were destroyed, many others of 40 and 50 stories also were destroyed. They cannot build only a hollow tower, because they need the office space for working people. Whatever they build, they will have to avoid another catastrophy like 9-11. When the buildings fell, they said they would never build that high again. But I guess that they are proud, and want to show the whole world that they are stronger than before. Nothing wrong with that, but how can they avoid another 9-11. They can not stop terrorism at 100%. Making the buildings too tall, is like putting a target sign on them, saying try to destroy these. I think that they should make them 50 or 60 stories at the most.
just got a note through the door.
bristol water are re-laying our streets water mains - in plastic.
they say that this may mean that the electrical earthing system to our home will become non-functional, so, don't blame us if you get a belt mr englishman, you have been warned, and it's your problem to fix it!
Why not build you own Nuclear power plant in your back yard
it's been a while since i've posted - have had an awful lot going on here.
but i have had a very interesting experience and was wondering if any of you that have dealt with jw's in different countries have noticed this.
i'll make it as short as possible.. my father passed away last year.
I was under the impression that no matter where you are on the globe, that you would be treated the same way(shit). But your experience is unique. But I think hypocrisy is always the bottom line. I think that your local congregation will always shun you more, because they know you and want to show how obedient they are to the Watchtower, and they want to rub it in.
