Growing up in the 1980's, my mother was the only one with full-time employment. We didn't have all of these discount stores that we have now such as Wal*Mart, Kohl's, Value City, Big Lots, TJ Maxx, or similar. We had the standard mall with Sears, JC Penney, Montgomery Ward, Sears, Hills, Ames, Sears. Then, because we were so poor, we had the various Goodwill Stores. Guess where I got my Kingdom Hall clothes, AND school clothes? Yeah, Goodwill. The humiliation I felt at school and the KH was enough to make me vow even as a child, that I would do better with my life, have a good job, be able to afford to get NEW clothes that were in style, fit properly, etc. My son has NEVER had to even enter a Goodwill, much less have clothes from one. But don't get me wrong, with so many "value" options out there, I can now make out like a bandit! I would have KILLED to have a TJ Maxx, Gabriel Bros, or a Kohl's while I was growing up. The deals there are incredible! Anyone living in the Northeast USA knows what I'm talking about. And Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Brooks Brothers, etc? I didn't enter those stores until I was 20 years old and own my own visiting King of Prussia in Philadelphia. What a shopping Mecca! Then I went to NYC, and Chicago, and Hong Kong. Wow.

Goodwill stores: A gathering place for Jehovahs Witnesses.
by Joliette ini recently started working at a goodwill here in wisconsin, and i've never encountered more witnesses ever in my life.
every time i go to work, i see at least two or three people that i used to go to the kingdom hall with getting suits, dresses, etc.
some of them say hi, but some of them i just ignore, or they ignore me.

Since when do the "Sheep" feed the "Shepherds"? I've yet to see that in the wild. As I recall, Jesus fed his flock, on more than one occasion.
Skip forward to present day:
Why do the shepherds (CO's, JW hierarchy) expect a free meal everywhere they go off the backs of the "sheep"??? Shouldn't these big shots be showing up, and then taking the SHEEP out to a buffet or something, as a show of gratitude for all of the hard-earned $$$$ that they donate all year long? Even the Jews got festivals and Jubilees, what exactly do modern-day JW's get? A literal fleecing, is all I see!!!!!!!!!
Even the charities I know of (United Way comes to mind) all have annual balls, dinners, awards, etc as a show of thanks to their contributors and volunteers. The JW's? "Why can you do, give, us more, More, MORE??" It is a sick, twisted, way of showing spiritual "love" if you ask me. It's like, "Hey b*tch, fetch me my chicken pot pie!"

What I find funny, is that Jehovah took the time to destroy the Tower of Babel, because he didn't want man to achieve such high and mighty accomplishments, but somehow in the modern world he's allowing us to build skyscrapers, fly airplanes, the Space Shuttle, the Apollo Moon landings, and satellites to explore our solar system. So, was it Jehovah that didn't allow Babel, or merely an earthquake that sent it tumbling down? The Pyramids of Giza remain, but the Tower of Babel is nowhere to be found? Man landed on the moon in 1969? Baffling inconsistency if you ask me.

Being perpetually shit on by these delusional, End-Times Apocalyptic religious loons my entire life was enough for me!
I was never included or invited to anything JW related growing up - EVER! I was treated like an outcast. My mother actually worked for a living as an R.N. (Gasp!!!), my father was not some MS or Elder who owned a janitorial or construction business, and hence was ignored as well. Nearly 20 years of being denied my childhood, my life, and my freedom, and for WHAT? These people did exactly ZERO for me or to help me the entire time I grew up. On the contrary, they did nothing but ignore, belittle, and judge me. It was like being surrounded by vipers!! These people are totally USELESS, you cannot depend on them for anything, except to stick their noses in where it doesn't belong or offer up their opinion when you didn't ask for it, or show up looking for a free handout. Biggest bunch of lazy, uneducated (and proud of it!), freeloading, backwards, simple-minded half-wits I've ever encountered. I am so glad to be away from them all that I could do backflips down the street! I couldn't imagine living in an eternity around such judgment, Pharasitical, douchebags! Sounds more like Hell to me. -

I had a real laugh at certain parts of that video, namely: 1.) Where it showed a still of Rutherford as some grand leader. Seriously? 2.) The old guy studying the new "Generation" chart. Just wait until he sees the May 1984 WatchTower cover!!!!! Uh-oh!! 3.) The young couple praying over where they should serve, and then heading to Peru. Um, I was just in Peru this summer, all over from the Amazon to Macchu Picchu, Lima, Cuzco. People in Peru couldn't give 2 shits about JW's, or their cousins the SDA's. 99% of Peru is Catholic, and that's the way they like it. The JW's and SDA's are seen as a nuisance, and they provide NOTHING while the Catholic charities help out alot with orphanages, shelters, food. How do I know? I was there, I saw it, and our personal local guide was questioned (by me) about it. Been there, done that. Also, Peru is very much a 3rd world country. Food, water, etc is not as good as we have it here in the USA or UK. That couple is in for a very rude awakening. My 2 weeks there was great, but very much an eye opener, and I've been to Mexico, Asia, etc as well. JW's need to get a clue before heading off to the Andes.

she said, out of all her kids, i was the only one she didn't have to worry about as far as spirituality.
i always took a stand for jehovah.. she told when all of her kids were little, she gave us the option of not eating birthday cakes in school.
