Sounds at least somewhat slanderous to me. A reader would conclude (if one were to believe JR Brown) that Anderson has committed some other "sin" and any reader aquainted with Witness teachings would then possibly think of her as a person guilty of, say, fornication, drunkeness, smoking, stealing, or any of the number of other "sins" for which one can be df'd. According to the definitions posted on Slander and Libel, the stuff Brown says would apepar to fit under just about all those possible definitions.

What Are Some Of The STUPIDEST Comments Made?
by minimus inwhat are some of the stupidest comments made in the watchtower, or by a circuit overseer or elder that you've never forgotten?
the one about" the rapist being human" too, ranks right up there....like we're supposed to feel bad for him?

On the two posts on this thread by Soledad:
1. I'm still trying to figure out what your mom was trying to say.
2. Hey, that elder's prediction still has about 33 hours of life left in it - so don't count him out just yet!

Realist, I'd be more apt to believe Benny Hill. He'd have far more credibility.

Is Cloning a "good" thing?
by D8TA ini thought it was...untill i saw lilly munster being the first to claim that she did it.
then i thought..."no".

I'm undecided on this issue.....I do find it intriuging.
Until these folks who claim the cloning present their work to the scientific communty, I will remain very skeptical.

Yet another control tactic
by cruzanheart infor the past few years (when i was going to meetings), a wicked little group of us always got a spiral bound notebook every year that contained all of the material for the theocratic ministry school.
it was so much easier than looking everything up and lugging around large books.
every year we heard grumbles from the faithful (who lugged around the large books) that if the society had wanted us to have something like that, they would have provided it.

Yeah, my sister had a nice notebook made last year by some brother. When I saw it, I said, hey that's handy, enjoy it while it lasts, cuz the wts is clamping down on that stuff. She found that hard to believe....then about two weeks later, she said, 'yes, you're right no more notebooks'. The congregation (and I do mean, like, the whole congregation - nearly everyone) I was in (one different than hers) had nice ones too in 2001, but none in 2002. Same reason.

It's interesting and rather ironic that reading the "Proclaimers" book is what led at least some folks here to look further into the Society's teachings. An unintended effect, I would guess. Maybe the writers of that book are saying "D'oh!".

My Super Bowl NFC pick, the Eagles, may indeed prove me right.
I picked the Broncos in the AFC....oops!
My pick now - Oakland....and I think they'll win it all.
Some teams are too dependent on home field advantage, like the Packers for instance. They play like a different team at home. Well, if they get to the Super Bowl now, I'll tip my hat to them, if indeed they do have to go through Philly or Tampa to get there.
The Eagles, I admire them because they are good on the road, too. So are the 49ers, but they won't get far IMO.

Elder Says That We Must Guard Association W/ Bros.
by minimus in2 elders mentioned in their parts in the tms and sm, that just because a person is a witness, it doesn't mean that they they are acceptable association.
if someone misses a lot of meetings, rarely goes out in field service and is not the best example, we should not want to associate with such ones.
i clearly see a line being drawn in the sand.

This doesn't really seem like new information. I've heard this lots of times when I was a dub. Which is why I had very few dub friends. I didn't put in enough field service hours and participated in afterschool activities...I was on the path to apostate why back then I guess...meanwhile all the good little boys and girls who put in their time, got to hang out together and smoke pot and have sex. *sigh* Too bad I was such an unspiritual nerd.
The part about putting in time and then smoking pot and having sex really hits home. Lately, my kid is getting virtually shunned by local jws because our involvement has lessened considerably. They don't even chat with her on IM, or they do so in a terse manner that shows that they do not want to chat with her. However, the jdub kids who are showing thier faces at the meetings are involved in the stuff that Joanna mentions. But hey, they hide it and they appear so "spritual", while in reality they are a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites.

You know you're addicted when:
The intravenous bag tethered to your vein is labeled "JWD".
You open two browers, one for chat and one for thread posting, or two for thread posting/viewing.
You're bleary-eyed each day from too much JWD.

Neighbours are JW's - Or are they?
by StarryNight inhi, i've been reading through some of this forum, and it's certainly got more information than anywhere else i've found.
so i'm hoping that perhaps someone here might be able to give me some answers/ideas on a situation that is really puzzling me.. i live in melbourne, australia, with my husband of 12 years, and no kids.
for the past 6 months i've been living next door to my neighbours, unaware that they are jw's.

Starry, Witness of not, your neighbor doesn't sound like much of a gentleman to me after making that remark to you about having sex.
Welcome to the board.
