if instead of thailand, he had gone to a place where its legal and (supposedly) has some sort of oversight to prevent exploitation?

like nevada in the u.s or amsterdam in europe?

would the being unfaithful part still be a deal breaker as far as supporting his channel?

The thing I find unpalatable about him. Is the allegations of his inappropriately behaviour to a female under the age of 18. This, allegedly, may of been the real reason he was DFed, and the reason he never recorded his JC meeting. I’ve been following Lloyd from day one. I remember at the time of his JC thinking it odd that a crusader for freedom would not want to openly expose the injustices of Wt, by recording it. I guess now know the real reason why.

Even if nothing physically happened the intent was there.

I was in the bank the other day, and a saw security officer going out to the back of the bank, to collect the cash. He didn’t carry a gun. In fact law enforcement are not allowed to carry guns on their person. I can’t see that been the case in the future. But it drove home to me how blessed I am to live in the country that I do. There are stringent laws around gun ownership. Politically and economically the country is strong, with low levels of corruption. A doctors visit the other day Cost me $US12, and the prescription was free. It’s usually listed as one of the top 5 places in the world in which to live. As far as I’m concerned Americans and Europeans can stay where they are.

Tried to warn another mum

the thing that broke me was that i tried to warn another mum in the congregation about a brother who was inappropriate with my son, which upset me, and so i called her to talk about it since we both knew him and i had also seen him pin her daughter down on the sofa and slap the girl's bottom.

i called it inappropriate, but i never accused him of anything beyond that.. unfortunately, word got back to him and i had to go in front of 3 elders, including the brother who i felt had been inappropriate.

because they came down on me for trying to stop the behavior, and not on him for being the cause of upset, i felt very hurt and started questioning more things.

One thing is for sure. That guy will be thinking a bit harder about his actions the next time around.

i started asking questions about how the world worked and i really wanted an honest opinion from my parents.

I went for a about 15 years as a PIMI believing that Christ died upon a cross, after I was challenged on a door about it. There is just to much evidence to suggest otherwise. I just wish it had been the thing to motivate me to leave.

what i mean is the mormon's have their own set of wacky beliefs and are a pretty insular group, engage in a form of door to door ministry but don't discourage higher education.

in fact, the handful of mormons i went to school with were pushed to excel academically and go to college.

yeah there are ex mormons but for a great many, going to university doesn't turn them into atheists.

In a monetary sense the, LDS will outlast the JWs.

About pay rolling? If you watch that video. The comment was made that the LDS could pay each member $US7000 annually just to turn up to church, and it could still survive.

Many here unjustly claim that Wt is primarily about the money. But when compared to the LDS. There wealth of a couple billion dollars is very modest indeed.

Smiles - the LDS is more a multinational company, than what it is a religion. There could be fewer than 1.5 million, temple recommend holders. To hold a temple recommend would be the equivalent of a baptised, full believing, Pioneer in JWland.

The LDS is the wealthiest religion on the planet. Close to a trillion dollars.

The 2 religions, have 2 different problems. JWs will probably run out of money before they run out of members. Where as the LDS will probably run out of members before it runs out of money. The LDS is not dependent on membership donations. Even if the religion side of the LDS collapsed. It could carry on as a corporation for many years.

Smiles - I love this argument. I’ve argued this point extensively, in the past, and the idea that the Mormon church is bigger is simply not true. Even with a 50% JW PIMO rate they would probably break even with LDS membership. Please read the following links.

Why would JWs want to go the Mormon route. They already have a bigger more engaged following. In the present situation, with covid, they have feared better than the LDS.
