I think it's the "Us v Them" mentality. They did a great job of creating that. The DF'ing doctrine is very powerful. They control by FEAR now. I have enough problems in my life with creditors, job, and just life in general that I have to worry about being dragged into a JC meeting and being 'busted' by what is supposed to be an oasis from the troubles of the world? I mean, what kind of religion has it's own built in police force? Why should ANY OF US have to worry about getting into "trouble" and becoming "disciplined"? It's ridiculous. The 'TRUTH' is that if they announced that people could leave w/out any disciplinary action that a HUGE % of the flock would get the heck out of there.

My take on the meeting yesterday.
by integ insome of you are aware of where i'm at with this whole thing.
i still occasionally go to meetings for family reasons but my attendance has been lack luster at best.
i'd say i go about once a month if that.. i empathize with those who are wary of taking the ultimate stand for fear of losing their family.

I empathize with those who are wary of taking the ultimate stand for fear of losing their family. I get it. It's pretty heavy to have to face that and almost evil that the society has created that scenario. How ingeniously devious of them.
When you step away from the daily witness grind and then pop in for a meeting or two you see it with more accurate eyes.
The children at the hall are noticeably miserable. You can see it in their eyes and it's written all over their faces. It's boring. It's the same old crap they've been saying for decades. It amazes me people are so dense to still buy all the crap they are selling. So amazed I really think there is a large percentage who actually DON'T buy it but are compelled to go thru the motions.
I wish the GB had the guts to give people a choice to leave w/ out repucussions and leave it to Jah to exact judgement if He so desires, but no. They won't. They can only rule w control and fear.
The WT study was an endless drone of echoing the paragraph and pathetic personal proclamations of their commitment to following orders no matter what they are.
Mindless robots. Just a bunch of miserable Xanax addicted drones.

I just thought he was an "interested one". Is he baptized?
I thought he was more like that Terence (forgot his last name) actor in Crash. He likes the witnesses and agrees with most things but just won't take the plunge.

Question for apostates!
by TheStumbler ini have a question.. the conventional wisdom seems to be that to 'convert' a jehovah's witness (or get them to see ttatt) you have to ask questions that they cannot answer and engage with their true personality not their 'cult personality'.. intellectual arguments tend to fall flat because jws (who do not already have personal doubts) believe they already know the absolute truth so anything contrary to that truth is nessecarily wrong.
any criticism of their beliefs will be seen as an attack or persecution and will be dismissed as flawed 'human thinking' or 'apostate lies'.. to 'true believers' any amount of contrary evidence and illogical inconsistencies in their beliefs can be dismissed or explained away.
their starting point is that they have special knowledge of absolute truth and all evidence and arguments are then weighed against this preconceived belief.. here is my question.

I am not an "apostate". I hate that term.
I am not against God in any way.
Just against JW bullcrap and their lies.
My answer would be that until they have doubts prior to facts they won;t be swayed that much.

Goodbye and Thank You Jw Net (Last Post)
by Brother Mike ini would like to thank everyone for the discussions that we've all had.
after all of them i have realized, all of you have made me realized that after all of the stuff i have been through, i just need a good friend.
and regardless of how hostile our discussion could get i have felt that you have all shared something with me that have helped me.

Your problem Mike is equating going back to God (Jehovah) with going back to the WTBS. The WTBS are NOT God's people.
See how much they love you if you state you don't agree with everything they teach. Try it. Good luck.
Read Crisis of Conscience if you have the guts.
I don't think you do.
You say you wanna go back to the "truth"? You can't handle the truth.

The Gall Of WT To Give This Advice To Pioneers:
by JW GoneBad inthis past week's wt study lesson was entitled: 'pioneering strengthens our relationship with god'.. under the subheading 'remaining in the full-time service' in par 14 the wt has the nerve to give this admonition to pioneers: .
'desiring to learn from jesus' example, a pioneer does well to keep in mind that the more material things he has, the more he will have to maintain , repair, or replace.'.
i don't think the gb or anyone in the writing department has the freedom to speak on giving adivce on the matter of 'material things' given the fact that wt has close to a billion dollars in real estate and loads of money in various bank accounts; given the fact that gb is currently building themselves new living quarters with who knows what sort of comforts and other amenities.

When and if God's day arrives witnesses will be shocked to discover that the God of hate they preach about ...who will "destroy their enemies" will do no such thing.
They'll be shocked to discover He isn't a God of hate after all and that he loves ALL his creation.
What a bummer that the witnesses will be robbed of the satisfaction of seeing people who decided not to join their little cult be bludgeoned and destroyed.
A religion of HATE.
Love thy neighbor? Only if it's a fellow witness in good standing according to the dictates of a bunch of weird, twisted men.
