Just listen to mouthy (Grace) and do everything she says and you'll be stepping in high cotton. She adopted me and I love her to pieces!

Internet Influence
by JH in.
if it wasn't for the internet, and sites like these, would you still be an active witness?

I left before the internet but it was responsible for my enlightment and freedom from the cult. The CofC book was mentioned and I bought it from Amazon.com. After that read I knew I had been right in moving on with my life apart from the JWs. I'm here because I enjoy the company of people who understand.
Ditto to that!

What do you live for?
by YoursChelbie ini have been wondering, .
before, while in the borg, many of us were under intense indoctrination of ideas like; "live for god", "look to the new system were everything will be perfect.." .
--not in those very words but you know what i mean... .

My Wedding Uninvitation
by LB inwell the lovely young sister let my wife know today that only she would be invited to her wedding.
i'm not in the least surprised.
i know she really likes me and that her first inclination was to have me attend regardless of my daing myself recently.

Good post, LB. I have a feeling she'll wise up one of these days. You're setting a good example for her!

When is it really over...................???
by inaweout ini am a newcomer to this site, and a curious one at that.. i have been dating a guy who was / is to some degree, a jw.
although he no longer attends meetings, and does not share jw's beliefs, he is active in other ways.
for example, he is active on this site; he spends a good deal of time referencing his past life as a jw; and, he gets very angry (but not towards me) every time he hears or thinks about the jw's.

I agree with many of these wonderful comments. I would like to add a minor thing that could be major to some people. I was raised a witness and of course never celebrated birthdays, Christmas, etc. Simple things like that that are important to some people are of no interest to me and never will be. Just be understanding if he seems unthoughtful on holidays because he has been programmed that they have no meaning and he probably doesn't even know what is normal for people to do on those days. Don't take his actions at these times personally. He can only care for you in the way he knows how.
Best of luck!

Edwards & Brown... what do you think???
by Tashawaa inhas anyone seen/watch "crossing over" (john edwards) or seen sylvia brown?
i do believe there are scam artists out there, and i'm not prone to believing in psychics, but these two are very convincing.. i don't believe its demons, because quite frankly i think they have better things to do then get to know someone's life so well they can "mimic" them after death .
part of me is very attracted to "their message" - even the animals "cross over"... but the skeptic in me .

Zech, the same goes for people wanting to believe. Randi's offer of $1 million is for real. It should be easy to collect especially if you're one of the best in the world. It's all smoke and mirrors!

Oh yeah, Saddam could nuke New York..............sheesh Wanna make any bets that he doesn't have nukes? He's not that stupid.
It's OK if Israel has them though. As does India, Pakistan, Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US. And we all know how peaceful those countries are.

IMHO, I predict that not one shred of evidence will be found of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, yet Bush will make up some reason to go to war anywho. It will be sold as the "right and moral" thing to do, as always, yet will be done solely for the benefit of big business, as always. Excuse me for being so cynical, but after about the 100th time you start to see a pattern. Any predictions on how many hundreds of thousands of innocent will die?
