Take A Break

ok, there has been so much talk and worry over the war that i thought a new topic was in order.. what does everyone have planned for summer vacation, i mean spring has sprung, summer is not to far off.

what kind of fun does everyone have planned?

any new goals for summer, new places or people?.

I'm taking my summer vacation the last 2 weeks of December. I am going on a carribean cruise this year. Last Christmas I spent a week in Hawaii.

Alternative pets?

well, i don't have the most active or exciting life, so i've been thinking about getting a pet to liven things up a little around the homestead.

dogs?

too much commitment, also high ownership expenses.

I have a Parrotlet. It has the same looks and personality as a parrot, only its 4" long. He's the sweetest thing. Never bites, never squaks, and loves to cuddle. He also sounds like a little robot when he talks. He is much easier to take car of then a parrot, although he does need alot of attention.

I am going to a meeting tomarrow

my mother called me last night an begged me to go to the meeting tomarrow.

she has asked me to go numerous times during the last year,and i have made excuses everytime of why i can't attend.

last night she begged so i'm thinking that theres either a local needs talk that she wants me to hear or its the co visit.

Well I survived. Going back just reassured me that I made the right the decision to leave the org.

First I want to say that sitting through the meeting was like sitting through two hours of a first grade class.

The student talks were absolutley horrible. I kid you not. The1st student talk was given by two sisters on the subject of "Why Jehovahs Witnessnes do not Worship Jesus". The sister stammered through the entire talk, forgot what scriptures she was going o look up, and got her notes all mixed up so she lost her place. I certainly didn't get much out the talk, and her housholder certainly wouldn't if this was for real. Isn't the purpose of the ministry school supposed to prepare students to anwer questions they are confronted with in the field ministry?

The second student talk was the Bible reading. There was no indtroduction, no discussion of the scripture and no closing. The brother just walk onto the platfom and said "Please turn to John chapter 3 and we'll read versus 1-23." I could'nt help but wonder if this is part of the new ministry school arrangement. Has the society made it a no-no for a student to discuss the scriptures he is reading? Could it be that they are afraid that one of the students may have a different interpretation of the scriptures then they do?

By the way, there was counsel givin to these students during he meeting and it was praise for doing such a fine job.

I was bored during the service meeting. Same old DO MORE IN THE FIELD MINISTY stuff. During the announcements I barrowed my mom's KM and read the entire thing during the first 10 minutes. The article on the first page was on the upcoming memorial. I found it odd that Jesus' name was only mentioned once and Jehovahs name 12 times. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the memorial about remembering Jesus, and showing apprecition for what he did for us? The focus of KM artcle was not on jesus. It was on how we can show appreciation to Jehovah by going out in service and inviting everyone we can to the memorial.

After the announcements there was a talk given on bad association. The bother giving the talk spoke to us like we we're little kids. The main message of this was that everyone who is not a Jehovahs Witness is not a friend of Jehovah. That makes them Jehovahs enemy. Would you want to friends with someone who is an enemy of Jehovah?

Another thing I noticed is that during the entire meeting, only these scriptures were read: John 3:16 , Danial 2:44, Matthew 4:10 and 1Cor 15:33. Why is it that Jw's put so much focus on these four scripures and just skim over the rest of the bible?

Well that about sums it up. No one really bothered me. I got a couple of "Its good to see you" but thats about it. Most everyone else avoided me.

Under pressure to attend the Memorial?

is anyone else under pressure from family to attend the memorial?if so how are you handling it?

in my family's case the truth might be too blunt and i dont' know how to soften the blow.

any suggestions?

Well I'm all ready to go. Got a skirt on and my songbook and bible. I've managed to avoid this for an entire year. (last years memorial). I am telling my mom tonight to not ask me to attend anyore. If I want to go I'll go on my own. Hopefully she will respect my wishes. I will get to see my neice and nephew tonight, which I am looking forward too. I am not looking forward to the "Its so nice to see you made the effort to attend the meeting even though your husband is an UNBELEIVER." (as if he's the one keeping me from the meetings). .

After putting a huge guilt trip on me, and telling me how much everyone misses me at the kingdom hall (yeah right), and how I'll make her and my father sooo happy if I show up,I told her I would be there. Now i am really scared, my hands are shaking, I am nervous as Hell. I really do not want to go. I am already nervous about attending the memorial and this just makes it worse. I want to back out but I don't want to hurt my parents. I hate this!!!! I wish I was strong enough to tell them that I am very happy NOT being involved with the JW's, I don't want to attend any meetings, and that I'm only doing it to make them happy. I am starting to hope that i get DA'd so that I don't have to deal with it anymore. But I would like to keep communicating with my family so DA'ing myself is outta the question right now. I started looking into other religions and would like to attend a couple of different churches but this whole getting da'd over it and losing my family is keeping me from moving on. I'm tired......
