  Weird Beliefs from JWs

  who has heard some really far out, off the wall, el whacko beliefs from jws over the years??.

  here's an example....yesterday a couple of jehopeless witlesses told me that riding my bicycle was the doings of the devil because, since a bicycle can't stand up by itself, it's impossible to ride one without the devil holding you up.

  does anybody know what bible verse they use to support this?

  i just got this from an active jw friend who i have not seen in 3 years and rarely talk too via e-mail.

  keep in mind i was never dunked and left almost 7 years ago.

  the elders went and saw my df'd sister last week after 10+ years.

  Unbeliever,

  I think you handled it wonderfully. I might have suggested that since gossip goes against the society's teachings, she might want to talk to her body of elders about the person who is sharing such gossip with her, so that congregation can remain clean. But that's just me.

  I have found that SOME men will call women dikey or unattractice AFTER that woman rejected them.

  I have also found that SOME men call women "feminists" as though it is a negative thing, because that woman has accomplished something they have not.

  I have found that SOME men call women bitches if the woman is strong, intelligent, and unafraid to speak her mind.

  I have also found that ANYONE who groups an entire group of people ( or even "most" of a group) with one label is BIASED.

  I am an attractive, intelligent woman, who has a very well paying job, a VERY good looking husband (who happens to make less money than I do), and who is sometimes called a bitch when I don't kiss some unibrow man's ass. Go figure.

  Hot Legs!

  just wondering... with all this hot weather we're having at the moment (92 in wsm, which for the uk is as hot as it gets), are sisters still expected to wear tights - that's pantyhose btw - to the meetings and when out in the ministry?.

  her ladyship says that only old dears wear tights in summer anyway.. so, what is the current permitted apparel for sisters?

  Some of the sisters in my congregation (southern cali) started wearing longer dresses and knee highs. NEVER did I see a sister, no matter what the weather, with bare legs. Of course, that was over 10 years ago, things may have changed.

  Pants are definitely still an absolute no no.

  i remember growing up and thinking that there was no way i would have kids ......... why ???

  ....... because i did not want to raise them the way i was raised, in the borg.

  i went through hell, why put a defenceless child through that.

  I remember the last assembly I ever attended made a lot of strong comments about not being concerned with things like getting married and having children, but instead focusing on God's kingdom. That was pretty much the last straw for me. How dare they?? And two of my siblings, both of whom would make great parents, have decided not to have children because they don't want to bring them into this system of things. They love my son, and my nieces and nephews, but they won't become parents themselves. Yet another thing to hold against the WTS.

  I'm glad things worked out for you! When things got tight for me, I pawned my jewelry to pay my bills and buy food. I know what it's like to be on the edge in regards to money.

  Credit cards are dangerous, but also helpful in getting people over the rough spots. It sounds like you have your head on straight regarding their use, so I doubt you will have problems.

  in a way im glad the wts has hinted that mobile phones are expensive, time wasting, immoral devices.

  anything to reduce the number of people shouting into plastic blocks on public transport gets my vote.

  however they go as far as to assume that young people who have one will use it to talk to members of the opposite sex!

  Dansk and others,

  I am so sorry for the pain you are all going through. It is very hurtful when your own blood (and the children you have loved since before they were born) turn their backs on you for something as abstract as a religious teaching.

  I believe each of us has to face the situation in a way that is best for them. For some, this method is fine, as it allows them a way to break free from the bonds of pain. For others, it may not work, for reasons that only they can explain.

  So, here's to hoping everyone finds their own way to successfully deal with their pain and move on and enjoy their lives.
