  i know that this has been talked about already under a different context, but i had another question about it.... .

  the december 15 wt claims that genesis 6:3 started a 120 year countdown to the flood.

  our watchfulness takes on greater urgency .

  Hmmm..interesting and great points for actual abusive relationships, but a bit of a stretch in applying some of those things to JW's, especially the last one.

  The bible itself is packed with things that you could equate this to, eg, Jehovah describes himself as a jealous God, Jesus often belittled the pharisees, Jesus threw the money changers out, etc etc.

  not surprising therfore that the tetragramaton should be found in the sun on this pic.

  And if you believe any of e-watchman's theories, the Society is being subtly used by secret masonic forces that want to bring in a New World Order via a tyrannical future new UN, hence the Watchtower and Awake's one time NGO affiliation and subtle UN propaganda in recent years. New World Order..which one are they talking about these days?

  Jesus chose the WTS in 1918/9, it's the only absolute!

  after all the dust settles it appears that the only thing the wts can hang its hat on is that jesus approved what the wts was doing to further the kingdom interests in 1918/9 - no matter the changes of new light before and since.

  so just what was it that the wts doing at that time?

  yea, but most JW's would just say the bible students around 1914-1918 were the ONLY religion teaching the truth about the human soul, the trinity, hellfire, future paradise earth, while all the rest were teaching falsehoods. So they'd say that out of all the religions back then they were the closest to the truth, and that Jesus decided to use them and would in turn refine them. They would say that you are saying that they must already have been teaching 100% truth to be chosen by the Lord, but that is not really reasonable. Much like a landlord returning to a rather shoddy building he hadn't seen for ages....and deciding he'd keep it but renovate it.

  Unfortunately it looks like the house is in now occupied for even faultier tenants than 90 years ago. There's not been much evidence of any redecorating or renovating, if we are to judge true religion by it's 'fruits'.

  "There is yet another, very significant, side to the matter. Many persons seek only a negative freedom. They seek to be free from something, to be free from feeling compelled to profess belief in certain teachings, to perform certain activities or conform to certain policies, all imposed by ecclesiastical authority. Of itself that kind of freedom may be a proper goal, desirable, bringing release from oppressive restraints and from domination of mind and heart by men in a way which is clearly unchristian. But even so, by itself this release does not bring Christian freedom. For Christian freedom primarily implies a positive freedom - not merely a freedom from something but a freedom to something. It is freedom not simply of not doing but of doing, as well as of being - as to what we are in heart and mind as an individual persons. Rather than by the mere step of leaving a religious sytem viewed as false, it is by what we do with our lives after separating from that system that we demonstrate whether true freedom has actually been gained."

  How many on this site can say that they have moved on from this negative freedom and have since gained the real Christian freedom Ray describes and which is the whole point of his books?

  It seems to me that most on this site imagine they are enjoying the negative freedom but that sadly they have not comprehended how to move beyond this. Instead many seem mired in a psychological need to continually slag the organisation and JW's at large. They seem to have a compulsion to forever obtain a renewed sense of this 'negative freedom' from other ex-jw's via this site, as if this freedom from the shackles of JW's is the be all and end all of all spirituality.

  Are not many of you still psychologically enslaved to the organisation by your reliance, year after year after year, on anti-JW website's like this? The organisation is no longer the crutch it once was to you, but websites such as this are now your emotional 'religious' addiction.

  Many seem so consumed by bitterness and ill-feeling toward the organisation that they seem mired in a permanent state of negativity, some even losing all faith in God and Christ and lapsing into agnoticism, atheism, or giving free reign to the desires of the flesh in all it's various forms.

  Isn't it time to learn to move on to something more positive....to real freedom...

  this is what it reads : .

  apostates may claim to worship jehovah and to believe the bible, but they reject the visible part of his organization......under divine inspiration, the bible writers used strong words to expose the motives and the methods of apostates.. what is it that apostates want?

  a visit home recently brought me back up against the destructiveness of the watchtower society.. far from being happy, my parents are exhaustingly sad, angry and bitter.

  they spent the weekend.

  chopping first at each other and then at my brother and i. how we had disappointed them.

  The ones that seem happy as a JW are probably only happy for pretty much the same reasons as anyone is happy out there, either with or without religion, ie, as more than enough materially, lots of friends, great marriage, good health, enjoyable job...but as soon as those things are all taken away they are probably as miserable inside as anyone. The only difference is being a JW they have a psychological escape, a little fantasy to keep their daily problems in perspective, ie, the forever close end to this system to be replaced by lots of material blessings in the new one soon, always soon.....
