Isn't this account in Judges just a rerun of the Genesis account of when the 2 angels visited Lot? In Genesis Lot offered his daughters to the sex crazed crowd. In Genesis the wife became a pillar of salt, in Judges the concubine becomes chopped liver. Same story , different characters, same gory ending.

i have been a witness for a long time and still serve as an elder.
there have been a lot of changes to deal with in the last six months or so since i stumbled on this site due to questions i had about all the recent changes in understanding published in the wt.
many posters here talk about a cult personality and a real personality.
I was still serving as an elder when I had my awakening! For years I used the 'position' to bring reasonableness to the BOE on matters of df'ing and other things. I finally could no longer give talks and meeting parts that espoused the view of the WTBTS/GB and resigned. The body was shocked and disappointed since I was a long standing elder /jw. God did it feel good to rid myself of the hipocracy and bs. Life now seems real. It was not easy but then is anything worthwhile ever easy?

In dubland, one can be df'ed for smoking which is not mentioned in the bible, df'ed for taking a blood transfusion--which is not mentioned in the bible but not df'ed for marrying an unbeliever which is specifically mentioned in the bible as a n- no for christians. Go figure! LOL

so we have heard of an earthquake today, and possible tsunami...and immediately i am told.

it is as if the witnesses are so happy that another tragedy has occurred!
According to the WTBTS, big J has been resting from all his creation work for the past 6 or 7 thousand years. He'll fix all the earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, etc. problems just as soon as 'break time' is over. Soooooooooooooooon!

i heard something through the grapevine...was curious if it was an 'official view' long story short, it was stated (??
) that a jw would have been killed had she stayed home and not gone to a ca.
(in washington state) has anyone else heard about this?
How about the JW's that were killed in the mudslide? They should have been at the CA also I guess.

it has been over a year since i offically stopped caring about and going to jw meetings.
prioor to this time i had tons of responsibility that drained every once of time i had.
like any father i had family matters to attend to.
A few years ago I had a mild nerveous 'breakdown'. I was having suicidal thoughts and really struggling with stress and depression. I checked myself into a mental health facility for 3 weeks. During my time there I received needed help from a psychiatrist and a mental health counselor. It was nice to be able to finally talk about how I really felt and believed. It was liberating! The psychiatrist helped me see that I was suffering big time from cognative dissonance. My brain was at war with reality. Now that I have fully embraced ttatt, I'm fine and have a real outlook about life. The "pain was worth the gain"

has any noticed a different vibe in the kingdom hall since the new understand of the faithful and discreet slave .
when my wife forces me to go once and while and like to say i wonder what the slave will be this week .
man it pisses her off but she has been hardly actively since the new light.
The faithful are waiting for the next shoe to fall. Those that have been around for a while know that the stuff the GB/WTBTS are now teaching is just a cover up for failed predictions and expectations from the past. So by throwing out a' mind bender', nu-lite every so often there is a period of total distraction to keep the rank and file busy trying to keep up with the new stuff. It gives them something to talk about. imho.

how do the governing body hear the voice of jehovah their corporation sock puppet?
how do they know jehovah's moods?
sad, indifferent, joyious, melancholy, pensive and so forth?
I always wondered, if big J is guiding the thinking of the GB/WTBTS, then why don't they all automatically and simultaneously receive the same information at the same time? Why would they need to 'vote' or have a majority to approve or change dogma? Now that I know WHY, I don't wonder any longer.

Really, when Jesus said to "keep doing this", he didn't say when to do it. The WTBTS makes such a big deal out of the DATE like it really matters.
