If I had a time machine and went back to Germany and saw Hitler would I kill him? No, because murder is wrong. What I would do is talk to the man. Tell him the things that he would do in the future and get him to see the error of his future ways. Affect change through rational discourse.

Another "New Light" or changing their damned story again about reserection
by crinklestein incan anyone confirm if their doctrin of the reserection has been changed?
a witness idiot i know has been trying to preach to me online trying to convert me.
he has stability issues himself with flip flopping back and forth between the "world" and the "truth".

Thank you all for your responses. They do help me understand what's going on. The funny thing is that he thinks he is actually going to try to convert me back to a JW by posting this bile in his Livejournal. I love to read his LJ because I find it very entertaining to see that guy flip flopping back and forth between personalities. I really think he has a split personality because he'll be ultra religious like he is now and then WHAM! He's back into the world and then a few months later WHAM!! He's ultra religious. He can't merge every aspect of his personality. He keeps them all seperate, even in regards to his likes and dislikes. He either likes classical music only and hates everything else. Then next month he hates classical and is all about metal. He's like the guy that keeps his food seperate.
But for the last few weeks he's been posting this witness crap in his LJ and I figured it was aimed at me so to make sure I made a response in my own LJ to see how he would react. Because it seemed like whatever I wrote in my LJ he had a witness post talking about something similar to what I wrote. So I wrote a response directly to his garbage and he wrote back a direct reply to me in his LJ. So it's been confirmed. He's trying to make me feel guilty for leaving by trying to instill the fear of death at Armaggedon. Sorry, but God doesn't teach through fear. God doesn't inspire by fear. He does so through love. God is love but to these witnesses God is fear. God is guilt. God is never being good enough.
And the thing that kills me is that this guy was deep in the world three weeks ago. Now he's super witness. He seems to have forgotten everything he said and did three weeks ago and now is above reproach. He apparently has mended his entire body and soul overnight and now feels fit trying to make sure everyone else lives up to par with his viewpoints.
And for the elders to make claims about who THEY think is worthy of a reserection is VERY pressumptuous. For any witness to say that anyone is any less spiritual than any other person is VERY pressumptuous. Only GOD knows the inner heart and for anyone to step in and act like they know your spiritual standing is going WAY over their boundaries. If I remember correctly the one human trait that God hates the most is pressumption. He's killed people in the past PERSONALLY because of standing in the place of God. So I wouldn't want to dare speak as if I'm speaking for God.

We all know that they used to say that when you die your slate is clean and your sin is forgiven because the wages of sin is death. And if you died now you'd be resserected in the New System. Now he made some comment that even if you die now you may NOT be resserected in the New System if you didn't do enough works. Has there been a change?
It's been funny going at him with logic while he spouts his Witness insanity. I listed scriptures detailing that salvation is a free gift from God and that all you need to do is profess your faith in Jesus and accept him into your heart. Then he, in the same sentence, says that the gift is free indeed but we need to do works to earn it. That makes no sense at all. THEN he says that no amount of works will ever be enough to earn one's salvation but goes on and on about how he has to do more works. It is the funniest shit!
It's free but you have to earn it with lots of works.
And no specific amount of works can be enough to earn it because it's given freely.
Insanity. But does anyone have any clues about this reserection thing?

Jack Van Impe & Y2K
by homme perdu injust before the millenium jack made an 80 minute program on how y2k would affect the world.
reading from the back of the y2k video box he annouced, ''see how the effects of this predicted computer catastrophe coincide with bible prophecy regarding the coming of the lord and the latter days of time on this earth!
'' jack even interpreted izekiel 12:25; 'and lo he doth braid the hair of the pony...' think about that: some computers have braided wires... and ponies are nature's calendars... praise the word of god!

That chic with the pink hair on his show just creeps me out. How anyone can believe the shit on that show is amazing. And that Greek guy just looks like a damned scumbag pimping religion on national TV so he can get a new Rolex. They make these videos and even Hollywood movies and then spend the entire show talking about it as if it were all totally real and biblically accurate.

Why didn't Jesus just donate some blood?
by PopeOfEruke ingod's mandate to noah required that blood from an animal killed for food should be poured out on the ground, in respect for the life of the animal which was just taken away.. .
jehovahs witnesses claim that blood is sacred regardless of whether a life if taken.
that's why they say blood transfusions are forbidden.

And if blood is not to be consumed then why do all the "annointed ones" consume it during the Memorial? Even though it's really wine it symbolizes his blood so that should make it the same thing.

Last day I'm taking Dad to the KH - any suggestions
by Bonnie_Clyde ini have a long, long story to tell.
it could fill several pages.
it looks like i'm being disinherited because i am fading.

It sounds to me like your dad likes to put people in charge of his crap and then blame them for every little discrepency or insinuate theft when one makes a large purchase. In short, it sounds like he's playing you to see if he can get you to sing and dance to the tune of his inheritance. Screw him. Screw his inheritance. It's not even really yours anyway. No one is entitled to anything of any family member if they choose not to give it to you. People think that inheritance is deserved or owed to the surviving family and it's not. Not even close. He is definitley playing games with you all and I would stop playing along. If he doesn't want you to know what is going on and doesn't want you to do anything for him then stand aside and let him do whatever the hell he wants. He's a big boy and he can reap all the rewards or plagues that comes with the decisions he's made. He's just dangling this lost inheritance in front of you like a carrot to get a rise out of you and to make you feel like he has one up on you. He will only succeed if you play into his hands.

Were you criticized for being outspoken & lacking tact?
by LongHairGal ini seemed to have a problem with the people there because i am outspoken.
(and this was all before i had any clues to how bad the whole thing was.
) i am just an outspoken person in general and my family (not dubs) are also outspoken.

I had tact but I was outspoken indeed. My tact would lessen, though, depending on how irritated I was and how confrontational I became. I also suffered from the "Everything I say is offensive to someone" syndrom and when someone told me they were offended by what I said I would just reply, "And?"
Mostly though, I was outspoken with my questions about things. The longer I was in the more things I found that were contradictory. Like why were we told that there is no accurate knowlege without the WTS' bible study aids? Obviously the ones that wrote them didn't have these aids so where did they get THEIR knowledge? Why are we told that we are not to take our own understanding of the Bible when the Proclaimers book describes in almost those exact words that this is what Rutherford did when he start this whole cult?
There were many more but whenever I had a question like this I would ask someone while out in service or hanging out. Eventually it got back to the elders and I was taken to the dreaded back room and told to stop with the questions because I was trying to undermine and destroy people's faith. I said that I was trying to get answers to things that appeared to be contradicting and that any Christian has the right to do these things. It went back and forth and I showed them the scripture about how, after a long convention of the Law, the men went to consult the scrolls to see if what was said was accurate. I told them that the Bible encourages believers to take what they hear, compare it to the scrolls/Bible to see if they agree with each other and to question it if it does not.
I've posted about this before and don't feel like getting too into it but it ended with them telling me to stop asking questions or I could be labeled as an apostate. That opened my eyes on how they really were and it was never the same after that. I slowed down and soon left the area.

It is an extreem rarity that one comes by the house but when one does I am never home so I can't say what I know will send them away thinking or shaking. But last month, while I was painting a vacant apartment (I do this on the side) I noticed a car pull up and a lady in a dress get out holding a big bag. I thought she looked like a JW and when I saw the mags in her hand my heart leapt into my throat and I tried to load up all the responses to the possible questions she could have. It turns out that she was just looking for the previous tenant to give her the magazines. Then she look around the doorway and saw that the place was empty and she said, "Oh it appears that she moved out."
I said, "Actually she was evicted for having too many loud parties and disturbing the other tenants with her immoral behavior." This was actually the truth. :)
She then said, "Oh, I see...well would you be interested in our latest magazines?"
"Not in the least," I replied."Ok then. Bye."
I wasn't going to be a jerk to her because she was being pleasant but if she started in with her schpiel then I was going to say something that send her away thinking. You can't force them to change their minds but you can plant those little seeds of doubt that will sprout and make them start asking questions and trying to find answers.

Lazarus question - was he snatched back from heaven when Jesus raised him?
by ithinkisee insomeone used this logic in a talk about the "resurrection hope" at the kingdom hall last week:.
"if people go to heaven, then when jesus raised lazarus from the dead then does that mean jesus grabbed lazarus back from heaven and put him back in his body?".
how would those in this forum respond to this?.
-

If death wipes away all sin then when he was reserected Lazarus should've been in a position to not need Jesus' death to cover his sins since the wages of sin is death.

Wife arranging for me to study with a brother! I need a plan!
by M.J. inhere's the situation.
my wife couldn't answer some deep issues i've raised regarding a few of the wts's teachings and dishonest representation of historical sources.
naturally, she attributes her lack of answers to her own lack of research and knowledge.

I suggest doing research on the changes in their teachings. How they used to say one thing used to be bad but now it's good and how one thing used to be good an now it's bad. Changes in dogma, changes in policy enforcement, promises that were never fulfilled etc.
I would get them to admit that the reason they don't celebrate holidays is because they used to represent things against God and how once something is bad it is ALWAYS bad. Anything with a bad beginning is always bad, regardless of how good and clean it looks now. That's their thinking.
Then ask them if numerology is acceptable. They will say that it is from Satan.
Ask them if they approve predicting the end of the world. They will say that no man knows the time or the date and that it would be a waste of time and considered to be divinaiton.
Ask them if secret societies like the Freemasons are acceptable. They will say no.
Ask them if it's acceptable to take the beliefs of other religions and merge them into your own. THey will say that everyone else is wrong and they're the only ones that are right.
Ask them if it's ok to rely upone one's own understanding of what they read in the Bible or if you would have to believe only what you are told to believe. They will tell you that NO ONE can have accurate Bible knowledge without going through "God's chosen network": AKA The Witnesses.
Ask them their stance on world organizations like the UN and Wallstreet. They will say that the UN is the earthly representaion of Satan and will advice you to stay away from Wallstreet.
Ask them all of these questions, get their answers, write them down but DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM. Wait untill all your questions are asked and then make your response by informing him that their founder seriously used numerology AND astrology to try to predict the date of Armageddon. In fact he wrote several books and articles about it.
Point out that their founder was an active member of the Freemasons and has a very large Masonic pyramid with the All-Seeing-Eye at the top of it.
Point out that their founder took alot of the teachings of the 7th Day Adventists to base alot of his own teachings on.
Point out that in the Proclaimers book it is mentioned that their founder decided to read the entire Bible without any preconceived ideas or beliefs on what he was reading so that he could interperet ON HIS OWN what the Bible was saying so that he could rely upon his own understanding of it.
And finally point out that they belonged to the UN for four years as an NGO and that you know they denied knowing about it. Then they changed their mind and said that they did know about it and that it was only for the purpose of getting access to the UN library. Then ask them that if the UN is the representation of Satan on Earth then why would they want to get access to Satan's library?
Also point out that you know the WBTS are major shareholders of RJ Reynolds stock as well as stock in companies that research and develop weapons.Unload all of this information on him one right after another without letting him interupt or try to explain and excuss away. After all of this then ask them that, if ANYTHING has bad origins then it is ALWAYS bad regardless of how good it looks now, why should you ever seriously consider joining them at all?
