I agree that pets do react to their owners absence. In the past five years I have been gone from home about a year. Sometimes 8 weeks at a stretch. My cat would react the same way each time I returned. She was pissy for about a week, then would slowly start to let me pet her again and after several weeks she would forgive me and be OK. If I take a day and just hang around the house, she is in a playful mood all day. My daughter's cat carries on if her master is gone more than a day. After three days that cat hangs in my room and sits with me. My cat is visibly unhappy about it and give the other one a hard time, eating her food and taking her napping spots in the house. If we are both home they are great to each other and seem very content. These two cats are a hoot to watch!

They don't even work this street because of me but when I see individual Nit-Witnesses my reaction depends on how they have treated me or mine. I've seen Elders at Home Depot and looked them right in the eye and called them bonehead morons. But I have many people who I just talk to about their families and themselves and never touch the JW aspect. Warm handshake, smile, well wishing and we move on. Afraid? NO! Pissed or pity, often!

Forget the JW Stats - Unicef report makes grim reading
by eyeslice inok the 2004 jw service report is out / due out soon but so what?
i gather it will show an increase of just 2% worldwide with many of the developed countries showing zero or practically zero growth.
what a waste of all the time, effort and money putting into the "preaching work".

Sober facts my friend, and with even a moderate margin for error factored into the reporting of nit-witness work I doubt there was any growth. BS plus BS is still just a load of crap.

Run Ins
by Max ini had a run in with a witness and it took me along time to get over it, i still don't talk to that witness.
some of the witnesses i know are two faced and it makes it hard not to feel aggresive when i go to the meetings, i sit there and think what am i doing here but i feel better when i leave so that is why i suppose i still go, it makes me feel good even though i feel there alot of stuck up attitudes when some feel they are more spiritual than others.
it feels like such a struggle to go there but yet i really want to be there.

I can relate to the conflict you feel. I would go to the meetings and take in the information, I love to learn and this satiated that need, but the phony people turned me off. I would go and then leave right after to be at peace. After a while I started to dread going and I have learned when you dread doing something it is time to make a change. One day as I prepared for and planned my day I remembered that I needed to be home at a certain time to make the Book Study, a feeling of melancholy came over me at the thought of having to sit with those people. I decided at that point not to voluntarily put myself through that, I'm a grown man and should be able to do that which I like and leave off from that which does not serve me. I never went back and they never came looking. I wish you peace.

by Belmont inenglishman had his op today and all is going according to plan.
he's feeling woozy and sore tonight, but hopefully that will pass in a day or so.
chris says he will probably have to stay in for about a week, but no doubt he will be posting if he can get hold of a laptop.

jw meetings and obedience to the society
by boy@crossroads inin what ways does each of the jw meetings play a part in instilling obedience to the mother organization?
or maybe put another way, how does each weekly jw meeting contribute to the overall jw mindset?.
this thought came to me whilst drifting in and out of the watchtower study this morning.. ministry school: helps jws strengthen their speaking skills for better defending their beliefs.

Succinct, a perfect breakdown of the methods and motivations of the WTS, Gary. Wonderful! Great job! I love how you cut out all the BS!

Interesting WT "20th Century" quote......................................
by nicolaou inremember this quote;
"the apostle paul was spearheading the christian missionary activity.
he was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century.

This is a good example of the WTS intellectual dishonesty. A truly Godly organization would just let the passage stand and if some detractor mentioned it just admit they do not know all Gods thoughts and His time table, but this bunch of frauds can't be honest and admit their error.

Gossip Gossip...
by Englishman init's just become general knowledge in a wsm congregation that the wife of the ex po was removed from the pioneer list for selling clothes.
..selling clothes along with the watchtower & awake whilst out in the ministry work!
apparently, she'd been doing this for about 30 years.

If she had done that in New York the WatchTower Bosses would have had her slapped around for not giving them a sizable piece of her action $$$$$$$$$$$!
