Why do some of you get so worked up over this, JW's control relies on lack
by Its so simple inpersonal growth.
most people are angry at themselves for not seeing it sooner and they just blame the wtbs.
if it was not them there would be something else that 'filled their need' and would have ensnared them.

Try to get your head around this paradox!
by DanTheMan ini've never heard of this motion paradox.
i've been reading a book titled the whole shebang by timothy ferris.
it must take a certain amount of time for the arrow to get halfway to the target.

You are thinking liner; cause then effect. The arrow is in the target...effect, then the cause, reaction to the drawn string. Your reference frame has to make sense of the effect, so you see thing sequentially. Einstein could never get behind Quanta. It is not intuitive. You can not know where an object is and where it is going at the same time. You can know where it has been and where it might go. Want some light reading? Check out the Einstein/Bohr debates: Albert Einstien: Philosopher-Scientist (New York:Tudor,1949). Maverick

Damage Control
by gitasatsangha ini had a close friend who left the borg before i did.
when it he made his choice, i was still having my own doubts.
but, the way he left was so abrupt, i did about the worst thing i ever have.

I guess the shunning of a person was one thing I could never get behind. I just didn't see the Creator and his Son being that petty. You adopted a mindset from those phoney, unloving, old farts in Brooklyn. Blame them and not yourself. Transfer those feeling of failing your friend to the Head duds! Picture how happy what you did made them feel... the scumbags! Your friend forgave you, show yourself that same mercy. If you want to be unforgiving put that emotion on the Governing Body... Works great for me! May you have peace, Maverick

How to help my son escape
by rebel inthe quote below was on another thread but i was afraid it would get lost.. "as a side note - if anyone can help me and tell me how to broach the subject of my drifting away to my youngest son, i would be so grateful.. what do i tell him?
he asks why i don't go to meetings any more.
he is so concerned and thinks i am in danger of dying at armageddon.

Gamaliel has chosen his user name well, rebel. These inquires may be coached by a respected adult J-dud. They see no moral dilemma in using the child to 'find you out'. Or to separate this child from you. I did not take action when this happened to me between my J-dud Ex and my then 13 year old daughter who I have custody over. We still have problems with 'the religion' as my baby calls it. The ex wife lays all manner of guilt and mental maneuvers on my now 18 year old girl! I step in now, took the kid half way round the world to give her a break. I am sure there are people here who can help you...listen to them. I wish you peace, Maverick

If They Found Out That You Were On This Board, What Would Happen?
by minimus inif the elders, certain family members or your "friends" knew that you frequented this board, what do you think would happen in your life?......personally, i think a jc would be imminent, and i am not talking about the coming of jesus christ, either.

What makes you think they don't already know? It's what they can prove that counts. And how much they want you out. I wrote and mailed out hundreds of letters and called the Governing Body businessman hiding behind religion, the CO a corporate inspector who should get a real job, the PO a retired grocery clerk in one letter and a liar and coward who worships those demigods in Brooklyn in another letter and the pussies DA'd me as an unbaptized publisher. They wanted to DF me for apostacy in the worst way. But they didn't want to get into the Baptism Nullification issue.
They're cowards who prey on the willing! Stand up to them and they are not sure how to act. If you cower they will beat you like a dog! As paranoid a bunch as those old dickless, androgyny in Brooklyn are you know they have a internet squad checking us out. Hey GB FU! Maverick

Meetingless Sundays: Guilt-Free ..... and Blissful!
by Room 215 inyup, i just reveled in another of these yesterday... what sheer, unalloyed pleasure!
sleeping an hour or so later, then shedding the pajamas for loose fitting clothes, enjoying a leisurely breakfast with several refills of the coffee mug; an unhurried hour or two with the sunday paper, then a walk with the dog, a short bike ride, a bit of desultory puttering around the garage and backyard; early dinner (or late lunch, however you care to classify it) and a peaceful retreat to easy chari and televiseion as night descends.. to think that unless they're unusually resourceful, proactive and resistant to the proddings of their conscience, an idyll of simple human pleasure like this -- a day of welcome respite and regeneration obviously intended by the creator for his human progeny when he legislated sabbaths-- is forever off limits to faithful dubbies.
sad indeed

It is soooo nice to have a day of peace. I wonder if J-dud Central keeps the 'flock' run ragged to stop them from thinking about what a load of s--t they are being fed! I go to the range and play with my custom XJS on Sundays now. I use to catch hell for owning such a useless car,(for service). Funny thing is I seem to have more money now, I wonder why that is? Apostate?
by Gig ini know the wts calls anyone who leaves an apostate.
but can that label be pinned on someone who has never been a jw?
i also know the wts can do pretty much anything they want, but according to their "official policy" can i be considered an apostate after only having studied with them for a time -never baptised into the org - but found their teachings to be less than the truth and said so?

Good point searchforthetruth, in fact Jesus was put to death as an apostate. The Jews merely trumped up the charge of sedition because the Romans would not let the Jews use the death penalty. Maverick

What Would A Jehovah's Witness Romance Novel Be Like?
by minimus ini was reading in the religion page of the newspaper today that the mormons are enjoying romance novels in which descriptions of the characters' sex lives are limited to little more the first kiss--- that could happen after they are engaged to be married........any ideas of what a jw romance novel might be like?

Love this thread, but the character are all young! In real life the sister is divorced, sex starved and 38. And the brother is divorced, 52, with a gut and three grown kids, the youngest of whom has a child out of wedlock and living with Daddy! He's a nice sweet guy and his bride is very, very horny! They get married, he can't...er...'perform'? You know, bad back,( from years of building Kingdumb Halls for free and going door to door, for free). She becomes a nag of the first order because she feel betrayed and he becomes a hopeless drunk and they live unhappily ever after and then die unfulfulled. The End Maverick

Gig,I believe your question relates to what J-dud Central considers an apostate. And do you fit in their definition as an apostate.
The Aid to Bible Understanding states; It is evident that there is a distinction between a 'falling' due to weakness and the 'falling away' that constitutes apostacy. The latter implies a difinite and willful withdrawal from the path of righteousness.Whatever its apparent basis, whether intellectual, moral, or spiritual, it constitues a rebellion against God and a rejection of his word of truth.
So based on that information the answer to both questions is...YES! Maverick
