Never ceases to amaze me...
by stephaniesays inmy sister is getting married on july 27th.
she is marrying a catholic, after being raised a witness, but she has been living with him for over a year, so she has not been approved of by my parents for a while.
as the black sheep of the family myself, i have helped her to get over the needing to please the parents thing and see that she will never be able to.

I am so sorry about your father, and your husband. Remember it is all about control. The J-dud master want all of it. That's why they frown of marriages with worldlings. They make it hard on both of you. They claim they promote marriage... they lie! They promote books and mags that talk about this subject. Oh and they quote the Bible, usually partial quotes out of context. This will not get better. Maverick

When A Friend Lies....
by pettygrudger ini have a question for you - what do you do when you catch a "friend" in a lie.
i have a friend who i haven't known for a long time....and so far i have "caught" this person in 2 lies (no one on this board, or any board for that matter).
lies that weren't necessary.

Air traffic control conversations
by Simon inhere are some conversations that airline passengers normally don't hear.
the following are accounts of actual exchanges between airline pilots and control towers from around the world:.
while taxiing at london gatwick, the crew of a us air flight departing for ft. lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a united 727. an irate female ground controller lashed out at the us air crew, screaming:.

More...More...I must have more!!!! I was flying in a Cesna 140 bug smasher with this very lovely blonde lady friend off the west coast of Florida. We were taking a day flight up to Cedar Key for lunch and then heading back down to Clearwater Airport in the afternoon. She is a co-pilot on one of those big helos out of the Coast Guard station right by Clearwater Airport. She squaked to the aircontrol people while I flew, under her direction, since I don't have a pilots lic. I followed her headings to the letter, and after a bit she leaned right and told me to follow the coast a little closer. Seems the straightline path I was taking us was a mile or so out into the Gulf. "Why?" I asked. She replied, "Not as far to swim!" I banked that baby in! Maverick

Dear Pooh, Buster and sixofNine are right, your husband has no right to foist this cult on you. What if he told you he was a Moonie, or a member of the KKK? Would you blindly follow? The cult install exit phobias and other conditionings that have 'kicked in' with him. Maybe you need to give him a little kick of your own. I know this sounds hard but he made a vow to you, is his vow to a book publishing corporation more important than you are? You need to know.
Northern girl, I wish you well, you need it! Maverick

How do you 'feel' loved?
by Maverick intony robbins claims there are three basic ways people 'feel' loved.
some need to be told.
for them hearing those words expresses love.

introspection, good name btw, Love is about feeling. About the interpretation of actions and expressions. The moment. People today are very 'slick' and can put on the charm and be actors. I do it with my clients. Build a rapport, so they will feel comfortable with letting me remodel their homes and hand me lots of money. And I get then to smile and thank me when they are handing me the money. Hell I even get tips. Largest was $900US. So I understand the mechanics of projecting the triggering the feeling you want in people. Here though, I was talking on a personal level, with someone you know and care for. I did not asked about qualifing LOVE, but the triggers that express love in your heart. Thank you for your response. Maverick

Sometimes it takes a rocket scientist
by TheSilence innot sure if this is true or not... but i found it amusing and it reminded me of some of the amusing brithish/american banter ;).

Surname Change: your opinions please
by RAYZORBLADE inhey folks.. i have been debating for some time about changing my surname.. as it stands, it's in its typical patriarchial form (my father's surname) and honestly, i'd like to change it to my mother's surname.. i would not deny that my father was my father, but i cannot say that he, or his family have been ever there for me.
my memories of them, for the most part are awful.. my mother is no angel, nor is she perfect, but i do have some connection to that side, and my grandmother (maternal) is my number 1 support person in the family.
when i think back at family that were there for me during rough times, it was relatives on my mom's side.

This is something I am planning to do myself. My mother remarried when I as five, at eight my Step-dad adopted me and gave me his name. He is a wonderful man and I love him dearly. But I am French and his name is Polish and hard to pronounce. When he passes away, hopefully not for another 20 or 30 years, I will change my name. But not back to the French one, Ladieu, but to the one I write under. I use it now, and have added it to bank accounts as an a.k.a. But I will wait to change it legally out of respect for my Dad. So, go for it! Maverick

Delurk
by Euphemism inwell, this isn't quite a delurk, since i've made several posts already.
but i figured it was worth introducing myself anyway.. i'm 21 years old, and was raised a dub.
had very loyal and active dub parents... there was just no question growing up that i was going to pioneer, reach out for privileges, etc.

Aztec is right, my first thought at reading your well written post. "This is one bright fellow!" I am so happy you figured it out so soon in life. And found a lady who did the same. May you be blessed with a long and unduded life my young and very wise friend! Maverick
