i saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.

my story won't compare but,
when i was l0 or ll, about to give my first demonstration at theocratic ministry school. my father at that time was tms servant and had coached me, going over and over everything i was going to say and how to say it. i had brand new black patent leather maryjane shoes on which kept slipping on the kh linoleum floor. i told my partner that i was afraid i would fall. well guess what happened. just after finishing the demo, getting up, i FELL OFF THE STAGE. (about 3 steps). the two of us started laughing while my father was trying to critique....i held my nose to try to stop laughing, which only caused the 2 of us to EXPLODE in laughter. couldn't stop no matter what. we were HYSTERICAL.
my father was not pleased.
i am currently a jw but am having a bit of difficulty with it at the moment.
i have always been a bit 'badly inclined' i got married at the tender age of 17 (crazy!
) to a bit of a rebel (a jw but a rebel all the same!
i was there too. i existed in darkness for years just feeling trapped. how in the world could i change this situation. finally i left and a huge weight was lifted. even though it meant leaving everything, my whole frame of reference, my world. i never looked back. i often think that if i had had children i might have stayed. but if i had stayed i don't think i would have survived.

when my son in law would talk about growing up a "dub"..he told me that they have their own certain words and phrases that they use.
i was like get outta town, he said oh yes you would be "bad association"..and i would have never had anything to do with you except try to preach the "good news" to ya.. thru the years when the "jo hoes" (as he calls them now) would knock on my door i would just tell them i was catholic and slam the door...never thinking that they thought i was part of "babylon the great harlot" or whatever they call it.
yes! and it always happened in groups!!!

oh, the lingo is just another way to exercise control. they seem to have to keep coming up with new phrases or terms and then they watch to make sure you change your terminology accordingly. i remember when they changed the midweek book study to "rondesvous". i mean whose brilliant idea was that?
i've been inactive for several months.
i know it's not the truth and mentally i've walked away.
would it be living a lie to remain inactive?
no clear-cut answer. it is a matter of personal conscience. i gather that disassociating today means something different than what it did when i da/d many years ago. when i did it it was my statement against the wts. i was making a public statement that i was shunning them.

yessiree...i had an afternoon off last friday.
so i decided to venture down to the toronto humane society.
i was so surprised at the variety of animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats, mice and birds.
hmmm,...
baby, birdie, butter, buttercup, butterfly, bruiser, beauty......i seem to be stuck in the B's. oh and susie, for black-eyed susan which is also yellow.
oh well,maybe it is over. tai chi, are you there?
do you have a sense of well-being?.
how would you describe a feeling of well-being?.
do jw's ever have a true sense of well-being?.
i have found my sense of well being only this past year. for me it is knowing that God is in control, that He has a plan (though i might not understand exactly what it is), that He is working everything out for the ultimate good, that whatever He does is right and just, that this whole existence is just a blip on the radar screen when compared with eternity.
i never had this peace of mind as a jw.
since everyone (from the dixie chicks to newsense) seems to agree that the usa is the worst country on earth (perhaps "the great beast" even?
) and the usa does not "do" enough to help everyone else on earth, a short poll: .
1. what country is the best on earth today...ie: no taxes, free everything, no military, no enemies, no borders, free food, no crime, no locks on anything, no politicians, etc.
you know, i think we're ALL in a pretty sorry state. each country seems to have its own strengths and weaknesses. some are REALLY awful, but we're all awful. i think the most we can do is to live our lives in the best way we can. create peace within our own sphere of influence. treat our families, friends, acquaintances, people with whom we come in contact (like on the road) with love, dignity and respect. try to understand the views of our enemies. perhaps if each one of us did this on an individual basis the world really could change.
