Anti-Semitism
by Euphemism inhave any of you ever experienced or seen anti-semitism among jws?
i don't necessarily mean hateful discrimination, but stereotypical or biased ideas about jews?.
for example, i remember one time at the wt study, there was mention of jesus' debates with the pharisees, and the wt conductor--who grew up in a working-class queens neighborhood... i.e.

Meeting Gripes
by Euphemism injust a couple of gripes from the theocrappic school and sourvoice meeting last night.. 1. a new elder was announced.
the announcement was phrased as follows: "through the holy spirit and the governing body, brother ---- has been appointed an elder.
" they are really laying it on with the whole authority-of-the-elders thing, huh?.

Drug Legalization
by Euphemism inokay, well there haven't been enough heated political debates here recently, so let's start another one... j/k, mods!
seriously, if i could get intelligent replies to this thread, rather than hyperactive fulminations, that would be much preferred.. my question is, how do you feel about the decriminalization of recreational drugs?
whatever you feel about the morality of using drugs, and taking as fact that the abuse of drugs is harmful, we're currently spending billions of dollars a year in a losing war on drugs, and in the process creating a whole criminal substructure that thrives on selling smuggled goods.. so here are my suggestions.. 1. allow the sale of recreational drugs to adults, exclusively at licensed and regulated establishments (along the lines of liquor stores).. 2. require that all drugs be carefully labeled with the exact amounts of all active ingredients, as well as a comprehensive list of all inactive ingredients, just as is required of pharamaceuticals.

Article needed: d/fing of those who hold personal views
by Euphemism ini recall seeing a statement in the watchtower that those who personally disagree with major wt doctrines, even if they are not promoting their personal viewpoints, are apostates and liable to disfellowshiping.
i'm searching the wtlib, however, and i can't find it.
does anyone remember where it is?

Sodom and Gomorrah: A Request
by Euphemism inhear ye, hear ye, hear ye!
i'm using up one of my precious two daily topics to post this, so you'd darn well better read it!
i am hereby proposing a moratorium on all mentions of the flip-flopping on sodom and gomorrah.

Convention Concessions
by Euphemism inhere's a question for you all... why does the society insist that all concession stands be closed at their convention facilities?.
i can understand that back when they provided their own food service, they would not want the competition.
(and in all fairness, their service was undoubtedly cheaper for the friends, many of whom have limited funds.

Convention Report
by Euphemism ini just got back from my convention yesterday evening.
i'll be trying to catch up on the posts as time allows, but there is a very large volume; so if i miss any personal replies, please forgive me.. this was my first convention since i became mentally free, and it was just painful to sit through.
i used to be one of those dubs who actually enjoyed conventions.

Delurk
by Euphemism inwell, this isn't quite a delurk, since i've made several posts already.
but i figured it was worth introducing myself anyway.. i'm 21 years old, and was raised a dub.
had very loyal and active dub parents... there was just no question growing up that i was going to pioneer, reach out for privileges, etc.
