To smile at him I think is the least you can do.
Why not say "hello" or "hi" to him and don't care what others think?
i was driving our car going to our assigned territory for our sunday field minsitry (was with jw 2 sisters) when i saw a disfellowshipped jw riding his motorcycle heading towards us.
the guy was df'd around 2 months ago only (won't delve much on his case).
approximately about 10 meters, we saw him smile.
To smile at him I think is the least you can do.
Why not say "hello" or "hi" to him and don't care what others think?
last month i decided to attend the international convention at metlife since my sister's cong was invited so she took me along with my older brother.
my sister drove and my older brother sat in the front seat of her suv.
i was in the back seat with the greatest watchtower apologist/loser/eldermole in the universe my bil.. they were all chatting away about how this assembly filed with regurgitated spiritual stool was a sign of the last days since so many people would be in attendance.
When I was 15 my sister (13) destroyed my Bon Jovi Keep the Faith album as another brother told her Bon Jovi is demonic.
Now she laughs about how stupid she was at that time. Keep the Faith is still one of my favourite albums.
i just saw it last night.. did anyone see it?.
i gave it 2 stars.
kinda boring and pretty much a fantasy!.
I think it was a great movie.
The questions it asks or shows are thrilling (post of sir82).
The only thing I didn't like was how the "watchers" (fallen angels decribed in details in the book of enoch) are pictured helping Noah. That was pure fantasy and not even very good as they look like the "ents" from Lord of the Rings.
Aronofsky would have had enough spectacular elements if he shows the fallen angels and the nephilim like described in the bible and book of enoch.
I really loved how creation was shown, as I tend to believe in "theistic evolution.
in numbers 31 we read the following:.
jehovah then told moses:2 take vengeance for the israelites on the midianites.
afterward you will be gathered to your people.3 so moses spoke to the people, saying: equip men from among you for battle against midian and to execute jehovahs vengeance on midian.4 you should send 1,000 of each tribe of all the tribes of israel into the army............ 7 they waged war against midian, just as jehovah had commanded moses, and they killed every male.8 along with the others slain, they killed the kings of midian, namely, evi, rekem, zur, hur, and reba, the five kings of midian.
Numbers 31:18
But you may keep alive all the young girls who have not had sexual relations with a man.
Did you notice? Most Bible translations mention that they should keep the young girls FOR THEMSELVES (whatever that means). Only the new NWT does not state "for yourselves" but only says to keep them alive.
i remember back in the day when i was a devout jw in the 90s elders would go to the hospital to try and see if a person took a blood transfusion.
i remember my cousin was having surgery after a severe car accident and if he did not take blood the doctor said he would have died.
the elder came to the hospital and badgered my cousin's wife until she told him my cousin did get some blood.
In my case it was a bit different. I never took blood. But I told the elders that I would accept blood for me and my little son in a medical urgency and I stated all reasons why. I also told them that I also find it ok to donate blood.
The elders didn't know first what to do with me. After months of debating, answering loyalty questions to the governing body, the elders decided that I disregard basic jw teachings but that I am allowed to believe what I want. They didn't df or da me but said they would if I tell other brothers and family about my views.
But if I took blood unrepentantly, I would be da by actions.
this might be my last post.
i've had quite a few things on my mind over the past few years, mainly my belief in god.
i've tried to move on from the jw past but that's really being foolish.
You are not crazy or weird if you use professional help to deal with your jw past. Maybe this will help you to view your past in a healthy way.
You want to be "normal" or you wished you had a "normal" life. I can understand that and sometimes I also wish I didn't grow up as a jw.
But now as I look back, I accept my past. It made me stronger especially that I was able to follow my conscience instead of man made rules.
Not everything of my jw past was bad. In fact I had a very nice and loving childhood.
And I don't know if it's a good goal just to be "normal." Actually I believe everyone is special. You are "special." Everyone (also in your eyes "normal"people) have their own smaller or bigger problems, hurtful things in their past they have to deal with.
Try to accept your past as it is. It is past. If possible try to view it in the best possible way. And accept it. The present and future is important. You are courageous following your conscience and your heart.
let us read a recent watchtower publication:.
many medical professionals and other advocates of blood transfusion appeal to people to donate blood in hopes of saving lives.
however, jehovahs holy people acknowledge that the creator has the right to say how blood is to be treated.
Just donated blood this week for the first time. It feels great.
I told the elders last December that I think it is right in god's eyes to also donate blood. This kind of shocked them.
At least they let me fade if I don't tell my views to the cong.
hey guys.
i am seeing a lot of flak on the forum over this study wt, and rightly so, as it's rather creepy.
but i'd like to suggest an alternate way of looking at this upcoming series of articles -- as an opportunity.
You are right. It is a good opportunity.
It might be a reason to take a next step in fading. Maybe stopping field service, not attending or attending less the meetings.
If concerned brothers or family members ask, you could state your concerns about that WT article (either the blind obedience, blood doctrine, shunning policy, or unlogical and unscriptural interpretation of 1919).
the leaks from the new november watchtower are alarming.
they will disturb even longtime jws who haven't surrendered all rational thought.
it's become so cult like its scary.
So the November WT is really crazy.
There is one part where they state obeying the organization is what is most important.
Then they have about 3 pages concerning the blood issue. They say JW must avoid blood transfusions even in life and death situations. They state a person can only have peace with god if they obey the blood doctrine.
Then they mention again that JW need to shun df ones even among family. With their example of Aaron's family not able to mourn his sons death they say in other words JWs shouldn't mourn about their df relatives, even putting more pressure of them.
This all packed in a friendly tone. Hipocrisy and indoctrination at its best.
I am glad though about that WT. One more reason to show my parents or friends who ask why I don't attend meetings.
i have several children and my wife and i before i woke up informed the local emergency hospital where we have taken a couple of the kids that we do not wish any blood.
my wife has also informed the local clinic where she takes the kids for small issues and small emergencies the same thing.
i know that here in the state's if a child needs blood the hospital will get a court order.
You could tell the doctor and your wife, that you like to blood alternative treatments for your children. But if the doctor thinks a blood transfusion would be necessary to keep your children from harm you authorize the doctor to do so.
This might be better than to say "you want blood for your kids." In many situations an alternative treatment is the best solution if your kids health is not endangered.
I will do the same with the doctor of my 2 year old son. My wife and I are separated. She doesn't want to give me the address of my kids doctor (probable because she knows what I will discuss with him). She has to tell me though by law.
