by Winston Smith :>D inwell, i went to my first sunday meeting after realizing the real "truth" about the wts today.. it is interesting sitting there with a liberated mind-set now.. at one point my wife turned to me and asked during the public talk, "whats so funny?".
", i asked her.. "because youre smiling.".

I am convinced that the convoluted language is purposeful--to make you feel stupid and in need of their guidance. Grrrrr.

Using your anger to make positive changes
by Lady Lee inusing your anger to make positive changes in your life
i was so mad i just exploded in rage.
how many times have you heard someone say, "that wasn't very mature of you," after you have lost your temper.

My absolutely favorite self-help book is Harriet Lerner's "Dance of Anger." She and Lady Lee are talking about the same things.

My apologies for the blank post. Not sure how I did that. At any rate, that is indeed an excellent letter. Does it put you at odds with your wife, however?

Please read what someone posted on Suicide, and tell me what you think
by LyinEyes inproplog2.. wrote this on another thread, and i would like to hear from others who may not have had a suicide in their own families to reply as well.
do you think that the jw religion has at least some blame or bloodguilt over some of the jw suicides?
i personally know they do, not all cases i am sure, but i know a large amount of them are cult related jw.......... remember we are not talking about just another religion, but a mind controlled cult known as jw's.

No it won't--I found it a very fast read and I don't have the background you do.

I came here because of a close friendship with a life-long JW. I figured if I knew more I could be more respectful of his beliefs. Oh, dear. Wrong strategy. I stay because I think I may better understand why he is how he is. Because I need to be able to accept that.

My Becoming a JW
by Juliana ini was raised non-religious.
i don't call myself an atheist as such because i don't like to label anyone, but i don't actually believe in god (though i am christian in background, and several branches of family family are roman catholic).
my fiance knows this.

Oh, sweetheart. What you need is a new fiance. No kidding. Don't do this--either convert or marry.

I only know one JW well. He was "born in the truth" and is now in his late 50s. I never know if he is prevaricating about stuff because he knows I'll let fly with some questions/opinions before I get my tongue back under control, or if he has decided to pick and choose. He's a "good" witness. Very seldom missing meetings, giving talks, doing door to door, etc. But then there is me (decidedly worldly). Who he has never attempted to preach to. Which suggests that he's decided to follow the form but keep his own council. He has told me that the congregation is what matters and that what the Watch Tower Society is up to doesn't really affect him, which left my mouth hanging open. Theocratic warfare? Or denial? (What aggravates me the most is the intelligence-destroying nature of the cult.)
