S*its about to hit the fan with my in-laws

brief history:.

both my wife and i have faded from the borg for about 10 years.

we still maintain close relationhips with the dubs in our family on both sides.. my wife's sister has not only faded, but she has become an ordained minster, thus my mother in law calls her an "apostate" and refuses to have any contact with her.. her 4 year old daughter will stay with my family for about 2 weeks in august.

Coming at it from an entirely different angle, perhaps your wife could tell her sister that she's reconsidering having her niece visit since their mother is putting increasing pressure on her to arrange a visit and she (your wife) is having a terrible time being in the middle?

looks like the witnesses have lost their meeting place.. see "missionaries physically attacked anti-missionaries in netanya".

Intro/Is it ok for me to be here?

is it ok for me to be part of your 'gang'?

you see i'm not a jw and never have been and a bit of of me feels like i'm gatecrashing.. i was raised in a strong roman catholic family - i was expected to believe everything the church taught without question and i did.

when i left school, i found myself working with an evangelical christian who, because she questioned my beliefs slowly made me look into them for myself - i truly hated her at the time for doing that and admit that i made her life a misery in revenge - but eventually i began to see that some of the stuff she was saying was right, we became very good friends and my real journey out of the rc church began.. i was too scared to leave straight away because of the doctrines i'd grown up with - no salvation outside the church and you can only really communicate with god through the priest (big issue here was how do i get my sins forgiven cos if i don't i'm gonna go to hell) - it was another 10 years before i finally plucked up the courage to leave and this was because of two things that happened:.

Last night I was listening to This American Life (http://www.thislife.org/ it's episode 290) and I was struck once again by the fact that all religions are cults and all both help and harm their adherents. I was especially struck by Julia Sweeney's piece that ends the show. I greatly recommend it.

Congratulations! And, yes, the real question is whether or not they change anything in the documentary.

But it certainly let them know that there are a lot of people paying attention who are not about to let things slide. I wonder if the federal funding is coming through the CPB and if this reflects Kenneth Tomlinson's heavy hand trying to Foxify public broadcasting.
