  i don't know if i have just unwittingly set my jw mother up for trouble with the wt and i need some opinions on what to do!

  i have wanted to try to get my mom and step-dad out of the borg for a long time.

  they've been in for about 40 years, so they are pretty die-hard.

  Giving Away the Family Dog

  i was wondering if anyone out there has ever needed to find a new home for a family pet, and if so, how they handled breaking the news to the kids.

  we got this dog when he was 13 weeks old and he is now 16 months old.

  in the short time we have had him, despite all the love and attention he receives, he has destroyed our home!

  Mark of the Beast

  i had an interesting discussion with my mother regarding the mark of the beast.

  she had asked me to do some research on it, and when i told her that i had finished researching it and discovered that the greek word "mark" was "an etching", she got very defensive and asked me what "mark" meant in hebrew.

  i told her that it didn't matter what it meant in hebrew, because the context in which it is used in revelation is written in greek.

  i have been doing "scriptural battle" with my mother and step-father who have been practicing witnesses for nearly 40 years (i did not grow up in their household), and i need an answer to a question i have not been able to find on every jw website i have been scouring.

  perhaps someone out there can enlighten me!(?).

  i am trying to understand where the wtbs got the idea that they are "jehovah's faithful and discreet slave"?
