You have got to be kidding. Whenever the WT wants to pull an example out of their ass, they reach for Joshua and Caleb. 2 of the 12 "Chieftains" or "Elders" hand picked by Moses to spy out the land, therefore appointed to this "privilege" by Holy Spirit.
10 of those 12 were spineless, faithless cowards as are most JW Elders who will not speak up when they see faithless and cowardly (actually wolfley) things in their congregations and bethels.
Anyone who shows or tries to show the faith and courage of Joshua and Caleb will be kicked off of elder bodies and likely find themselves excommunicated (or "no longer identified as one of Jehovah's Witnesses") as well. That is why most JW elder bodies are a stalemate of "do nothing" (but DF) bureaucrats bent on self preservation.
Why even the instruction to bodies of elders is for any possible "Joshuas and Calebs" to "go along with the elder majority" even if it is a valid principle being defended. This shows a "waiting attitude on Jehovah".

so i went partying on halloween in my costume.
it was fun, had a great time, all that good stuff.. however, i'm on a peer network thing kind of like myspace but its only for college students, however, anyone who goes to my page can see that i have like 3 pictures of myself in my costume.
so i was wondering, if a witness went onto my page and got those pictures could they use that as ammo to have me disfellowshipped?
My brother was disfellowshipped for sending our mother a mothers day card. Oh and I was seen at his house......!
You will only be DF'd if they want to get rid of you. The more involved you are with people in the borg the more your defection is felt. If you are out there anyway, chances are they would leave you alone.

Freetosee - I don’t think they can call a JC on you, you only stated what you understand from the bible and it is what your bible trained conscience agrees with. Oh wait, isn’t that apostasy? I guess the overall tone of your talk will be the decisive factor. Maybe not a JC, but your ministerial servant privileges might be questioned, which means no teaching assignments for a whole while.
If he has been emphasizing Jesus in his talks they have definitely caught on. After pushing the envelope back in the late 90's I was taken off platform duty for about 6 months. No parts for 6 months, which didn't bother me, I hated giving talks. Then about a month before they removed me I had a talk every week including the Instruction talk during the CO visit. I guess they needed more stuff on me.

Well that spells the end. The oral tradition has been to scrutinize anyone who is too comfortable with James, especially that verse because Ray Franz spent considerable time on the subject in C of C and the effect that the commentary of James had on the governing body.
That book and the commentary have been more trouble than the society can handle. They have been trying to remove it from the library for at least the last 10 years. CO and DO have been told to suspect anyway who makes reference to the book as trouble. Anyone who quotes some of the sage advise in the commentary will be dismissed out of hand and put in the CO's little black book.

It used to piss me off how elders on the Golf Course would swear like hookers when they muffed up their drives and puts, but if anyone came forward accusing a "Fucking Elder" of molesting a child, the issue would then change to revolve around the use of vulgarity. Gulping down the camel and straining out the gnat.
Perhaps you who are so sensitive to foul language should read Jesus' own foul mouth rant in Matt 23! There is no way that "whitewashed graves", "full of dead mans bones" and "offspring of vipers" was not taken in by the receivers with the worst possible offense.
In the idiom of the time he called them "fucking liars" and "fucking hypocrites" plain and simple.
Then there is Paul wishing that the super fine apostles would get their peckers cut off Gal 5:12!

the recent court defeat of the watchtower emphasizes a point i have repeatedly dwelt on:.
the confidential judicial files in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses are a potential "bomb"!.
they often make for interesting reading, if you have access to them.
I have an original JC envelope with the account of a married couple who got a 16 year old drunk on 3 different occasions and she says she woke up to being fondled and/or penetrated by the couple! (3rd times a charm I thought)
This is happening around the whole infamous Canadian Paul Bernardo and Karla Humulka rape/murder investigation and trial. So like a bunch of cowards the JC gave a stern warning to all 3 and swept the whole thing under the carpet.
The couple themselves were very transient so have long moved on. And it is my conviction that this wasn't the first time for such a rape, and won't be their last.
Nothing was ever reported to the police.
This is typical of the documents in the Congregations file of practically every congregation. Even in the congregations with the so-called soft handed JC's. The same crap is going on just less of it is reported.

In the 7 years I was the account servant, I rarely if ever received any donations from elders. It was saps like my wife and I who donated regularly and all the old sisters of course.
We had one 29 year old elder guy who used to boast of making $200,000/year plus. One year he donated $1000 at tax time only because I told him one night at dinner that it was an excellent way to get a tax write off. That was the last time i saw anything come in from him.
I wish there was a way I could get every penny back. Not that I need the money, but so I could give it all to breast cancer, Unicef or some other worthy charity that actually does something.

last week we had about 75 in attendance at our tms/service meeting.
I wonder if there are any CO's whose kids are complete Witness Washouts?

That reminds me of one our nuttiest CO's ever. This guy, Dave Gannon, was a real moron. Told everyone that when he got baptised years ago, he said to himself out in the parking lot afterwards, "I guess I need to quit smoking".
He would boast to congregations that he visited how he was so very proud of his son when he came into his room one night and he was "studying the prophecy of Daniel" by flashlight under the covers. His son who I was friends with at one time told me he was studying the latest Penthouse magazine in reality. LOL
This CO used to mock the Internet to distraction, or anything that would mock his audience for that matter. He also made a big deal out of these people who left their wives/husbands for people they met online. The simplistic and mocking approach to the problem as he saw it was embarrassing to say the least.
Anyway, his daughter Leah married this guy and they both went to Bolivia to be "Missionaries". There was lots of fanfare & parading on the platform at circuit assemblies and the district convention that year before they left.
Within the first year she ran off with someone she met on the Internet and her husband came back to Canada with his tail between his legs. Needless to say this buffoon Dave Gannon has stopped talking about Internet affairs. LOL
