  curious about accusations against the iranian president for his views on the holocaust, i was doing a little research into the matter and stumbled across this character: ditlieb felderer

  charged, tried, convicted and jailed in sweden.

  vilified in the press.

  I am no expert on the Iranian presidents views of the Holocaust. However, I did watch him bury Morley Safer on the 60 minutes interview.

  All of the propaganda aside, I had to agree somewhat slightly with his point about the compensation given the Jews as a result of the Holocaust. Namely, since it was the German Nazi's and the citizens through their compliance (ambivalence at the least) that perpetrated the atrocities against the Jews, then why did the Palestinians have to give up their land as compensation? Why isn't the Jewish state in the Rhineland or Bavaria for example?

  That does not sound like the man denies the Holocaust or hates Israel, but just disagrees with how the Jews were compensated by displacing the existing inhabitants. Morley was uncustomarily speechless so the reasoning even got to him.

  Governing Body!

  Actually the word does in a round about way appear in the bible. However it is anything but flattering to the dub interpretation.

  Which goes to show that if the dubs are in fact the reestablishment of anything 1st Century, it would be Pharisaical Judaism!

  Again there is an approximation of the JC in scripture. In like manner, this too in no way flatters the dub religion.

  Job was harassed by a self righteous "committee" of 3 men.

  Likewise Paul challenged them as being illegitimate.

  (1 Corinthians 4:3) Now to me it is a very trivial matter that I should be examined by YOU or by a human tribunal.. . .

  If witnesses judged Tribunals the same as they do Birthdays, they would be classified as Pagan too, since the only two references in the bible to the forming of a Judicial Tribunal are very negative.

  ", jehovah's witnesses maintain that they alone are the only true religion.

  Most religions do teach that a person should not lie or steal, and so forth. But is that sufficient? Would you be happy to drink a glass of poisoned water because someone assured you that most of what you were getting was water?

  This above quote from the JW reasoning book was often stated to people in service as a way to shake them loose from their so-called "false" religion and at the same time imply that ours was perfectly pure water.

  I do not personally believe that the analogy works and agree with you, as most water we drink the world over does in fact contain, toxins, heavy metals and poisons! Also, even an honest JW would admit that the Watchtower religion is far from pure!

  in my bible highlights part, i am going to espouse a pro-soup kitchen/salvation army/homeless shelter view.

  right on the heels of that, i'm going to support (higher) education as a means of bettering ones' self.. what will i get: insta-jc?

  I could be a class valedictorian, go on to get a Ph.D. and discover a cure for the common cold and I would still not attain their approval...not until I come back to the fold.

  A major one of life's lessons well learned early to avoid being scarred for life is that their approval is not necessary.

  You have got to be kidding. Whenever the WT wants to pull an example out of their ass, they reach for Joshua and Caleb. 2 of the 12 "Chieftains" or "Elders" hand picked by Moses to spy out the land, therefore appointed to this "privilege" by Holy Spirit.

  10 of those 12 were spineless, faithless cowards as are most JW Elders who will not speak up when they see faithless and cowardly (actually wolfley) things in their congregations and bethels.

  Anyone who shows or tries to show the faith and courage of Joshua and Caleb will be kicked off of elder bodies and likely find themselves excommunicated (or "no longer identified as one of Jehovah's Witnesses") as well. That is why most JW elder bodies are a stalemate of "do nothing" (but DF) bureaucrats bent on self preservation.

  Why even the instruction to bodies of elders is for any possible "Joshuas and Calebs" to "go along with the elder majority" even if it is a valid principle being defended. This shows a "waiting attitude on Jehovah".

  Makes you wanna puke!

  Last time there was an article like this was the last time I stepped foot into a kingdom hall.

  Disfellowshipped for celebrating halloween?

  so i went partying on halloween in my costume.

  it was fun, had a great time, all that good stuff.. however, i'm on a peer network thing kind of like myspace but its only for college students, however, anyone who goes to my page can see that i have like 3 pictures of myself in my costume.

  so i was wondering, if a witness went onto my page and got those pictures could they use that as ammo to have me disfellowshipped?

  My brother was disfellowshipped for sending our mother a mothers day card. Oh and I was seen at his house......!

  You will only be DF'd if they want to get rid of you. The more involved you are with people in the borg the more your defection is felt. If you are out there anyway, chances are they would leave you alone.

  Freetosee - I don’t think they can call a JC on you, you only stated what you understand from the bible and it is what your bible trained conscience agrees with. Oh wait, isn’t that apostasy? I guess the overall tone of your talk will be the decisive factor. Maybe not a JC, but your ministerial servant privileges might be questioned, which means no teaching assignments for a whole while.

  If he has been emphasizing Jesus in his talks they have definitely caught on. After pushing the envelope back in the late 90's I was taken off platform duty for about 6 months. No parts for 6 months, which didn't bother me, I hated giving talks. Then about a month before they removed me I had a talk every week including the Instruction talk during the CO visit. I guess they needed more stuff on me.

  SirNose586 - I'm using Proverbs 22:9 for that. Innocent enough, I should think. It'll be backed up by a reference to James 1:27.

  Well that spells the end. The oral tradition has been to scrutinize anyone who is too comfortable with James, especially that verse because Ray Franz spent considerable time on the subject in C of C and the effect that the commentary of James had on the governing body.

  That book and the commentary have been more trouble than the society can handle. They have been trying to remove it from the library for at least the last 10 years. CO and DO have been told to suspect anyway who makes reference to the book as trouble. Anyone who quotes some of the sage advise in the commentary will be dismissed out of hand and put in the CO's little black book.

  i thought you guys might get a hoot out of this letter that i just mailed..... dear elders (or should i call you glorious ones?).

  you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all the people all the time.

  Oh, and all of the negative chatter about the "F" word.

  Look people, it is not such a big deal! It used to piss me off how elders on the Golf Course would swear like hookers when they muffed up their drives and puts, but if anyone came forward accusing a "Fucking Elder" of molesting a child, the issue would then change to revolve around the use of vulgarity. Gulping down the camel and straining out the gnat.

  Perhaps you who are so sensitive to foul language should read Jesus' own foul mouth rant in Matt 23! There is no way that "whitewashed graves", "full of dead mans bones" and "offspring of vipers" was not taken in by the receivers with the worst possible offense.

  In the idiom of the time he called them "fucking liars" and "fucking hypocrites" plain and simple.

  Then there is Paul wishing that the super fine apostles would get their peckers cut off Gal 5:12!

  Therefore inserting expletives is fitting and proper, even apostolic!

  i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".

  Well the word on the street is that he gives all of the black Witnesses in and around Brooklyn a hard time over talking Ebonics and ghetto slang. He wants them to be more "white" sounding, whatever that is.

  So I suppose he is an honorary "white" GB member.
