Sorry Love, but most of the points you mention have been proven to be invalid.

I have to ASS-ume here that you understand that school taxes are paid out of property taxes? Since everyone lives somewhere (except for the homeless, the majority of whom are white) everyone pays property taxes either as a property owner or through the owner as a renter.

Now since most illegals are smart enough to NOT bring children along with them on the sometimes very dangerous border crossings, the children that the letter writer has invented were probably born here.

That would mean that they are either US Citizens or Cubans or Puerto Ricans.

Now we come to the real point of the story; the letter writer couldn't care less about the persons' immigration status. The majority (maybe 90%?) of Jersey hispanics are either Puerto Rican (all legal because it's a US territory) or Cubans (again all legal thanks to Jimmy Carter). So if legal status is not the problem, then what is other than blatant racism of course?

    I'll get the popcorn

Is it racist to insist that the laws be enforced? Is it racist to ask, why a 16 year old can't get a summer job when he wants to work, and is a citizen of this country? Is it racist to ask that people learn the language of the country they have immigrated to?

Yes it is because none of these things have ever happened to you, pot-stirrer.

Jump right in with those straw-man arguments though!

So, because there are different dialects or regional differences with regards a spoken tongue, you suggest a state/country should not be able to declare an official language?

    Hi again;

I love that everyone is such an expert.

To make a law you must first define what is legal or illegal; in this case speaking English. Now comes the fun part, define which English you intend to make legal and how you will punish bad grammar.

It really doesn't matter what you happen to think because you can't have an enforcable law without a good definition of the desired or undesired behavior. Lawyers have the bad habit of winning multi-million dollar verdicts against Munis that like to take the law into their own hands. Don't like it? Repeal the Constitution.

I am very curious to hear why, in your opinion, it is "racist to insist that the laws be enforced?"

I note that you declined/ignored my offer to suggest your ideas as to a solution to the immigration issue. So I am interested in hearing a legitimate conversation from you, unless you're going there by way of Canarsie.

Less name calling and more dialogue would be appreciated.

The 16 year-old I spoke of is my son. Granted, it is anecdotal, but it is true. So go ahead and keep on trying. Like I said before the arguments of people like you are so full of holes that you have left is name calling, or threats of physical violence.

Hooray for Farmer's Branch is what I say. A lot of Texas cities are being crushed by the burden of illegal immigrants and it's time someone did something about it. I realize this is mostly a symbolic gesture but apparently a grow number of cities are adopting ordinances like this. The truth is that if things are made tough enough for illegals you won't have to ship them back, they'll go back on their own. It has happened before. I'm just disappointed Farmer's Branch backed off on the employers part of it, that's where you could make some real impact. Interesting that this happened in a city with the dumbest JW congregation I've ever visited.

If I hear the term racism again, I am going to puke. Does race give somebody the right to break laws and come illegally???

As far as English being the main language, it should be or else this will not be a united states. Learning another language is a wonderful thing, but I am not in favor of learning another language just to accommodate idiots who are here illegally. This is adding insult to the injury of them being here ILLEGALLY in the first place! They could be here 100 years and not speak English. Meanwhile, other immigrants learn to speak English. Our government has sold us out. These people are not just here for the menial jobs, they are here for the SOCIAL PROGRAMS that we are paying taxes for.

Any businessman who hires illegals and makes a profit now will pay dearly at some later date. How?? There will be raised taxes because of increased crime and burdens on school systems, hospitals, etc. and whole host of other problems. There will be a lowered standard of living across the board because these people have not been required to assimilate. And, trust me, they are not assimilating. They are just bringing their social problems with them.

Anybody who has their head in the sand and doesn't think this is a problem is just plain stupid. God help us all.

I think everyone has made some great points on this thread and this comment sums up perfectly how I feel:

Did you know that the agricultural industry is the only industry not subject to minimum wage? Who the fuck makes these rules? It is our own god damn government taking advantage of both immigrants AND nationals in proping up bloating, subsidized industries.

Everyone pisses me off - and not talking about this forum here - but all sides of the argument. Its not fair to anyone

.I often say to myself that if there were no jobs, none whatsoever to people who enter the country illegally they obviously wouldn't continue entering here. So then the logic follows that "someone" is benefitting enormously from the deal by letting people w/o papers work and take up residence in this nation. The local politicos in NYC refuse to deal with the situation. The state also refuses. So it's only the Feds left, yet they are so far removed in many cases from the extent of the problem and they just take their sweet old time mired in paperwork and fed up employees to deal with it.

I say let the people decide. This issue should be placed on referundum for the next election.
