nvrgbk..Parents can be such assh*les.They`re too old to beat you,so they name call.....My mom told me I was the "Son of Satan"..Wouldn`t that make her,"Satan`s Whore"?..LOL!!.....Do these people ever think before they open thier mouth`s?..LOL!!...OUTLAW

Nvr, you can vent anytime you want to! I'm sorry to read that you and your brother had such a difficult time growing up. I'm glad to see that you are ending the cycle of abuse. I look forward to reading your son's posts.

Thanks for the new responses, each one meaningful and touching in their own way.

Just got back from taking the son to see Shrek 3.

Another result of my upbringing is to question the sincerity of compliments and kind words and yet place much importance on and give much credence to insults and criticism, real or imagined.

That's why it's unbelievable to feel so much acceptance amongst you all. In other words, all your kindness is really an evil apostate ploy to separate me from the loving Jehovah and my dear parents. LOL!

Handsome Dan - I was talking to a good friend today about some of the very points you bring up about society becoming more aware of the damaging effects of ignorance, religious and otherwise, and how in many families the cycle of abuse is being broken. According to the Watchtower lies things are getting worse, I perceive much improvement. Thanks!

Nark- Your comments blew me away. I too feel that my parents have truly forgotten much of the harm they caused us. I guess they've had to so as to carry on.

Funny how prone the most unbalanced and dysfunctional people are to question your mental health. And the ideology of groups like JWs helps them rationalise a destructive behaviour instead of wondering about it, even decades later.

Wow. This really hit the mark, IMHO. My love to you brother.

hey mate...I can empathise with you.....I watched my old man hit my mum all through my childhood....he smacked me on the nose a good few times....hit my young sister.....he had my sister up against the wall by the throat when I got tore into him ...smacked him about....he threatened he was going to break my back when I least expected it (he still hasn't.....he he)....shortly after that we left him....the only thing I ever learned from that wanker was ..I would never treat my wife or kids the way he treated us....live your life good to annoy them...that's what I do.....he has never seen any of his grandkids.....I can feel my blood boiling writing this....cheers big ears

Quandry - Thanks so much for inquiring about my brother. He was a Presiding Overseer and MTS grad. To quote him, " I hate this fu$%ing religion." But I can't get him to come onto JWD. It would help him so much, but he is in fear of his wife. Keep him in your positive thoughts. Thanks again for your concern.
