Sounds like we had the same mother, nvr. I, too, remember merciless beatings with belt buckles, extension cords, metal fly swatters. She says she was just doing what the Bible says. I've vented here so much that I'm writing a book. So, don't stop. It truly heals the soul.

Seriously, sorry about the family problems but sorry to say me thinks this is only the beginning of your long hard journey. There'll be a lot more hate thrown at you. And as far as the past, I don't know why our parents beat us the way they did. What's done is done and can't be undone, right? Now do one, the other or both.
