  Hello Badwillie and wife. What pain and anguish you must feel now that you have experienced their hypocrisy up close and personal. One thing I was not able to ascertain from your post was if the local body of elders had been in close touch with the legal boys in Brooklyn, or if they were handling this action on their own. Might I suggest you contact Silentlambs ASAP because of his own experiences. The WT's hands have been tied in his case because of the negative publicity it would generate.

  The KM of March 1975 Ques. Box says that "a reproof is a congregational expression of disapproval occasioned by a serious wrongdoing that could have led to the disfellowshiping of one of its baptized members if he had been unrepentant".
  My guess is that they have been in contact with legal on this. Do you feel that they observed a contrite attitude on you and your wife's part or do you feel that this was a ploy to shut you up for damage control?
  I asked that question so your response to the body can be a measured one. However it turns out, I hope that things work out okay in getting the rest of your family out. My heart goes out to you and your wife at this time and I admire your courage. Keep us posted and call Silentlambs! Dino

  This was handled VERY quickly. I can't imagine that they had time to check this out with Brooklyn. I am under the impression that they have made this decision solely at their own discretion. One of the elders made the remark repeatedly of "cutting out the cancer" before it spreads through the congregation. What do you think?

  hey badwillie ! your mention of the inquisition reminded me of watching 'Elizabeth' which starts off with scenes of three protestants being burned alive for heresy - this being the typical fulfilment and the JCs and their cries of 'apostate' being the anti-typical ... the film struck a chord with me and chilled me - reproving and disfellowshipping is a hateful and unchristian crime

  anyway, thats not what i was going to say ... sorry for rambling ... my guess is that these 'pure ones' are very much aware of the UN story - probably lurkers and are scared that 'the truth will out'

  i understnd your kindness towards them - it's taken me a good six months to get over the guilt of daring to think independantly - and i can primarily thank the good people here - our real brothers and sisters in truth !

  My heart goes out to you both for having to go through this perfect example of braindead stupidity on the elders part. I am so glad though that you are not crushed and downtrodden, but are seeing this for what it is.....the real truth.

  The elders have seen this kind of treatment work for years in "keeping the flock in line", but I can see a trend taking place in people that is going to cause this all to backfire badly for them....great for us and for the pursuit of exposing the truth.

  I do feel for you though, in having to be discreet because of family still "in bondage". I know how frustrating it can be to have to keep quiet and not speak out when inside you're screaming. I'm right in the same boat with you.

  Somehow though, little by little, the truth is going to reach more and more of the r&f because we are not going to continue to let the WTS get away with all that they have in the past. The past is winding up to smack them right in the face.

  I'm glad you are here and have shared your story with us. Not only will you get help here for yourselves, but you are helping so many others here to bolster their conviction that their decision to leave was the only right one. It adds to my "ammunition" which is helping my friends to open their eyes.

  You mentioned that you had shared doubts you had with others. This is likely the reasons why the Society would uphold any action taken against you. Otherwise had you simply showed the UN website, it would have been very easy to appeal this matter.

  Either way, you have to choose your targets more carefully. Trust is hard to come by. It is also difficult to gain once you are blacklisted.

  Always stick to the facts that are concrete. Leave it up to your audience to put the pieces together and interperate the facts. Don't even bother explaining anything to a group of elders thinking you can "reach them". If you meet with them at all, you are meeting with them to avoid disfellowshipping. Plain and simple.

  You are so right. You have no idea how much butt I kissed to avoid disfellowshipping. I said very little during the 2 hearings. The funny thing is that as I showed my friend the UN website he actually starting to be visibly affected by what he was reading (the criteria for attaining NGO status). After this I got up to leave to let him draw his own conclusions. He insisted I stay because he said he had some doubts and questions of his own. He actually took the lead in al ot of our conversation...the problem is, I initiated it. This seems to be what the elders are focusing on. In all of this none of the elders that I know of has investigated any of my findings. However, I have written to the Society, this is a fact they are aware of. A copy of my letter is posted on this forum as well.
