Staying a Christian Upon Leaving

    Mouthy,

Hi, I love newcomers too! About the 'ugly' things, I was thinking more along the lines of things like this:

Things that God is responsible for if he is responsible for all the nice looking things.

I agree humans have done some very ugly things. Burning women because they thought witches were real, holding back science which could cure millions and discriminating against homosexuals, to name a few.

With the sun being like God- well we can see the sun. If we believe God came to Earth it's because it's written in a book- it isn't very good evidence.

I'm not sure why my age means I'm wrong. There are 25 year old Christians and 80 year old atheists. People of all ages believe in different things. One of us is right and one of us is wrong- our age doesn't matter.

If someone saw that Christianity was false and that the belief was harming us, would it not be loving for them to help out their fellow humans? Even if people found it offensive. Those who don't like what I say don't have to read it so it's not like I'm even forcing any of this on people.

If you can see you would have believed in Krishna under different circumstances, then how can you be sure that your god is true? Isn't it just a matter of where you were born?

If you were having fun and no god was involved, then technically you were an atheist. You made some bad choices, but that can't be because you were without a god- because there are atheists who make good choices and Christians who make bad choices. It's random.

I look after people close to death, so a god isn't required in order to be able to do this. It comes from just wanting to help people. You are welcome to believe an invisible dragon made people ill, that is your choice. But it does look as if you believe this because belief in God brings you comfort.

Being a millionaire would bring me comfort, but if I went around believing I really was a millionaire when I wasn't, I wouldn't have a very good grasp of reality. Out of love, don't we try and help people like that?

That question has an oddly familiar ring to it. Oh, now I remember! The WT uses similarly worded questions in their publications in order to get people to investigate the JW religion.

Facetiousness aside, I have always loved Christianity. I joined up with the JW's because they were able to convince me that theirs was the restored Christianity as begun on Pentecost - 40 days after our Lord's ascension. I was young, naive, and thoroughly deceived.

I have since come to realize that there is no such thing as true Christianity or restored Christianity. Our Lord foretold that His kingdom or His church or His people would become corrupted through and through. Read the parables of the dragnet and wheat and leaven if you don't believe me.

Yet, out of that unsightly mess, there would be those who are the real deal. I have been blessed to come across some of those ones, and let me tell you, my faith has been strengthened more than ever.

The WTS will not succeed in turning the Lord's sheep away from Him; to the contrary, as more see just how corrupt the WTS is, they will be running to Him just as was prophesied.

    Thank you for reading.

In nature, carnivore predators need to catch and kill in order to survive. In their natural state, all they are capable of is looking for things to kill. They often start eating other animals while they are still alive. The prey eventually does die, but not until all its guts and other parts are ripped out. Male lions kill the baby lions so that they can rebreed the lionesses. So majestic.

Over 90% of the species that have existed have gone extinct, and that, long before humans appeared. Millions of yrs of suffering and death among dinos and other animals. Did satan create that, or did your god? Oh, were you thinking of just the sufferng among humans? It's not much, compared to that within the animal kingdom. Further, as humans learn more about both themselves, and about nature, they are reducing suffering.

Your opinion still comes across as condescending, Satanus. Considering the amount of soul-searching I have done in the past few years, much of it posted on this board, I think rather that you are consoling yourself by assuming that I require an institutional belief system.

    snowbird,

The WTS cannot back up their claims. I can.

Your Lord said many things, but seeing as the only evidence you have is that they were written in a scientifically inaccurate book isn't saying a lot. A wolf says many things to little red riding hood in a book, but I won't be afraid to go into the woods.

Seeing as there's as much evidence for evolution as there is for gravity, the idea god made humans as we see them today 6,000 years ago has been disproven. Seeing as our planet formed after our sun, the order of the Genesis creation account is wrong. Seeing as we now understand people with mental illnesses do not have demons in their heads, we can see the Bible was written at a time when humans were ignorant of the facts. Seeing as there are no such things as witches with magical powers, the verses that talk about witches in the Bible are proof of an uninspired book. Seeing as there are human remains dating back further than 6,000 years ago shows that Adam can't have been the first man.

That's some proof to show the Bible is wrong. Can you present anything at all that shows it is the inspired word of the creator of the universe?

I am now agnostic, I see beauty in the autumn I love the colour of the trees and the sounds of beautiful music and love literature. I back where I was pre JW. The years as a Jw were not wasted never - could now think they might have been more productive though.

    We should be tolerant though.

By the way for we beat the French at rugby England in Final next week.

My faith is not dependent on the WT's claims - it never was. I reiterate: I allowed the WT via the JW's to convince me they were the true doers of God's will.

I don't "see" any proof of anything in your statements above even though you used see/seeing a total of seven times combined.

    Okay snowbird,

There is a lot to see if you'd like to look at this evidence. Let's start with human ancestors dating back further than 6,000 years ago which look different to humans today.

See here http://www.msu.edu/~heslipst/contents/ANP440/ for an extensive list, backed up with photographs. I may be able to help you find museums in your area where you can see these for yourself if you think the photos aren't real. You may automatically close off from it if your need for God outweighs what your own eyes see. All I can do is show you the proof and leave it up to you.

    Edit: Wrong link sorry. Fixed.

A person that has been confused by a religion needs to find the truth within themselves before seeking new "truths

What ever happens in life is totally unimportant if one fails to find the true identity inside oneself. Without understanding oneself no other understanding is possible .

Confusion inside leads to confusion outside period . Just that simple. Maybe for the first time as an adult take a REAL look at who is doing the thinking who is doing the feeling and start there . That is the place where we can begin to understand what needs to understood

What ever your belief may be you should believe because it is a truth that is not suseptible to change it must be something within your own experience or it is impossible to accept as a certainty. Begin by understanding the certanty of what you trully are and then you will find what you seek,
