Mouthy,
Hi, I love newcomers too! About the 'ugly' things, I was thinking more along the lines of things like this:
Things that God is responsible for if he is responsible for all the nice looking things.
I agree humans have done some very ugly things. Burning women because they thought witches were real, holding back science which could cure millions and discriminating against homosexuals, to name a few.
With the sun being like God- well we can see the sun. If we believe God came to Earth it's because it's written in a book- it isn't very good evidence.
I'm not sure why my age means I'm wrong. There are 25 year old Christians and 80 year old atheists. People of all ages believe in different things. One of us is right and one of us is wrong- our age doesn't matter.
If someone saw that Christianity was false and that the belief was harming us, would it not be loving for them to help out their fellow humans? Even if people found it offensive. Those who don't like what I say don't have to read it so it's not like I'm even forcing any of this on people.
If you can see you would have believed in Krishna under different circumstances, then how can you be sure that your god is true? Isn't it just a matter of where you were born?
If you were having fun and no god was involved, then technically you were an atheist. You made some bad choices, but that can't be because you were without a god- because there are atheists who make good choices and Christians who make bad choices. It's random.
I look after people close to death, so a god isn't required in order to be able to do this. It comes from just wanting to help people. You are welcome to believe an invisible dragon made people ill, that is your choice. But it does look as if you believe this because belief in God brings you comfort.
Being a millionaire would bring me comfort, but if I went around believing I really was a millionaire when I wasn't, I wouldn't have a very good grasp of reality. Out of love, don't we try and help people like that?
