Actually, I grew up on a farm. I saw the young bulls, stears, and occasionally a heifer dry humping in public, during the day. These cattle, too, were bare-assed, and in black leather (some white, some red leather). I was exposed to it at a young age, so were my siblings, including sisters. Sometimes we giggled, most of the time we ignored it and got on with our chores. True, the cattle weren't doing it on floats in downtown Chicago, but if they were, I wouldn't bother going to watch them getting busy... even if Mayor Daley was there cheering on the dry humping cattle.

Well, I guess i have a problem with people acting like animals during the day out in public. Ol' man Daley must be rolling in his grave watching his son. I wonder if Jr. Daley will wear some nice, back leather chaps this year.

You don't have to be a fundy-Bible thumber to say "hey, i don't want my kids exposed to that."

There are lot's of places in Chicago, private and public, that I wouldn't take my kids... if I had any.

Yeah but I wouldn't consider taking a stroll down Belmont Ave. a place I couldn't take my kids. But, hey, why not. We can go and see the Gov. and a few floats down see a float for a gay bathhouse. Ah, summer time in Chicago. Good times.

LMAO @ Billy! That was nasty. LOL

Roybattery....well hey do what you have to. The beauty of the situation is, that with each passing generation they are seeing homophobes for what they are; haters. The only people that really take exception to gay rights are old people, and as young people have grown up realizing gay people are not a threat to their own happiness, and marriage the attitude has gotten more relaxed. Soon enough old people die, as well they should, and progress keeps moving forward. Old people can lament 'progress' all they want, but change is inevitable. Life and death goes on. I only hope that if one of you children comes out to you and reveals he's gay you won't shun him/her. The world already has enough hate in it. Embrace anyone who can find some love and happiness in this crazy life.

    Sincere question:

Everyone talks about keeping the government out of our business. Yet legalizing marriage between gays is being celebrated like the 4th of July! So do you want the government involved or not? Because having a committed union between two people does not require government involvement and never did. What am I missing?

The 'government' is ALREADY involved in marriage. The Federal govt has over 1,100 laws and protections benefiting married people. http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d04353r.pdf Add to that the state protections and you are over 2,000 laws and protections. Some mundane, some extremely important. Since the government has ALREADY decided to be involved in this process it is only expected that they make the process equal to all.

    Royalbatty,

I hope that you're not grouping all homosexuals into one group that is extreme. Just because someone is gay does not believe that they all believe in the same theology, if that's the right term. That's like saying Oprah likes cupcakes, therefore all black people like cupcakes!

For the record, I find those displays just as repugnant. As for gay bathhouses, if they're that noticeable, there should be laws to at least make them low key. You won't find bathhouses in my country that are advertised whatsoever. And yes, I find those places repugnant too, unless I want to catch something. I wouldn't want my nieces or nephews seeing that in my neighbourhood either.

Clearly. And apparently that is a desireable thing to the gay community. Let's face it - this is not about freedom of sexual expression because that is a given and has been for quite some time. It is about financial benes, insurance, children, etc. Fair enough. But it is like saying, "I don't care what your rules are, but at the same time I really want you to sanction my choices." I remain confused. How can you seek governmental approval as a practical matter and reject it as a moral issue at the same time?

Right now it doesn't matter - but the fat lady hasn't finished singing yet.
