Would you describe JWs as being "haughty"?
I finally said it...I don't like jw's

Renaii, if the jw ever focused on God that would be one thing but the fact is their faith is IN nothing but a book publishing company masquerading as a relgion. A dangerous and deadly 'religion' at that. It destroys families right and left, kills their own members and allows pedophiles to run rampant within the cong and the rest of society. If your loved one was involved with heroin wouldn't you try to do something to stop them? if your loved one was lost to drugs or even died from them wouldn't you want to warn others of the danger?
Jw's are not informed about their own so called religion and I have seen the despair of a jw who comes to the conclusion that their life was spent in service to false prophets and charlatans. It is devastating, you stick your head in the sand and say it's not so bad yet how can you read the board for as long as you have and not have compassion for the lives absolutely destroyed by this wicked cult? I can only guess that the wt has sucked out all natural affections from you as they do to most jw's. Bottle them up and store them away somewhere, wait for jah to fix everything never mind the pain inflicted in the meantime. God never said do nothing to make life a better place for others even those who don't believe as you do.
As for what you would do if your spouse joined a dangerous and deadly cult out of the blue? you have no clue of what you would do until you have walked in those shoes.

Hmmmm My only hope in answering this thread was maybe giving someone a pause when they think they have the right to choose another persons thought or right to worship whatever they choose!
Some say that the Jw's are evil so basically that is justification for telling another adult what they can or cannot do! Well you can feel this but if they don't agree with you (and I personally don't agree) then you will have a difficult situation.
Another said 'If it takes over their life more than I like I would pack my bags', that is certainly a choice that any spouse would have. but personally I have always thought conditional love isn't very strong, if you have to say "If you love me you would do this!"
For me love is about sharing and coming to an agreement, once you start making demands and taking positions, it times to seek marriage councilers or going to relate, so my final advice for unhappy spouses is get some counciling for your marriage if you've started becoming the 'thought' police on your partner.
Also I will for a change recommend a book for you to read....

the bible says that taking care of family comes first (when I resigned my MS, I used this and the elders could not contest it).
it's hard enough that people have to work 8 to 11 hours a day to make a living, and then another 1-3 for house chores.... now you have a religion that wants another 4?
what are they smoking in brooklyn?
this religion devides families on purpose. I was not allowed to go to my syblings wedding (church part). I still regret it to this day!

I can't believe you Reniaa: The WTS feels (and has stated on numerous occassions) that they 'do the thinking' for the rank and file Witness. If you were born and raised in "the Truth", then you do not have any "choice" as to what you can believe----not if you don't want to lose your JW family and get disfellowshipped for being Independent Thinking. Do you even bother to read what you write??

Oh lordy......Reniaa is attempting "reverse psychology" on us! Run for the hills!! Reniaa, it's hard to say whether you're purposely trying to rile people on here, or if you're really this brain-dead. The Watchtower Bible is a mirror image of the "Ministry of Truth" described in 1984, along with their tactics of using pervasive and ongoing surveillance of society in their desperate attempt for Thought Control.
That you---as a Witness yourself, would attempt to try and turn the tables and suggest that it's actually the ex-Witness world who should read 1984, is absolutely laughable and reveals the depth of your delusional perspective. Why don't you reveal your real name and what congregation you attend Reniaa? Maybe because Big Brother is Watching?

Hahaha, read it (many times), saw the movie, have the album. Describes the watchtower society/organisation to a "T". lol

This discussion of the ubm reminds me so much of William Coburn's story. I received his book, "The Spanking Room" in the mail yesterday and read almost half of it last night.
It is written from his perspective beginning as a 4 year old when his mother became a JW. His father was an ubm. Coburn does an excellent job of detailing the issues created in the family because of her obsession.
Kzjw, I hope there are no children involved in your situation. If there are, I strongly suggest you read Coburn's book.
It's also a good read for all of us brought up as JWs - even those with both parents JW.

hi Mary and Hi Mrs jones
Your points are invalid because you are talking on two unrelated things. Marraige and worship to God!
Does God have a right to ask me to worship him? Yes.
Does my husband have a right to ask me to worship him putting him before God? No
Do I take it from what you both say you went into Jw's without knowing what you were baptising yourselves into? I knew they were asking a more moral strict line and their publications and teachings would all reflect it, It isn't an easy path to walk but when I failed I blamed myself only.
The contract of marriage in no part says my spouse has a right to my beliefs only God has that right.

Renia: are you for fuckin' real? You're fucking lecturing us about "unconditional love" when you would shun your own family at the drop of a hat just because they smoke cigarettes or don't want to sell anymore books for a publishing cult? You're really pushing my buttons. I'm starting to think you're a troll.
Oh, and I've read that book. It was a very important step on my way out of the JW cult, becuase I saw how The Organization operates in EXACTLY the same way as The Party. So at least you've given one good peice of advice amongst all the poisonous mind control bullshit.

What the hell are you talking about? What point? You suggested that we should read "1984", I for one responded and said that I had numerous times and had seen the movie that came out in 1984 and that I also have the album (which is rather good and was done by the Eurythmics). And I also said that I felt the book describes the watchtower organisation to a "T". As usual IMHO you're speaking out of your ass and I really doubt that you've ever read the book let alone touched it.
