Not true. Many are used in shooting sports that are non-lethal and harm no living thing. A gun is a tool. Guns are used in the US in a non-lethal way far more often than in a lethal way. As a previous poster said, there are millions of spent rounds at the local range for every round that is used against a human being. Also, for every occasion that a gun is used in self defense, there are likely 100 that merely producing the weapon heads off an altercation.
In that sense you are declaring that your right to owning and using a weapon produced to kill - is a human right.
The right to self defense is a basic right, and a weapon--whether it be a ready-made one like a firearm, or an improvised one like a kitchen knife--is merely a tool that is used to secure it. Self defense means the right to engage in violence for the sake of your own life or that of another, up to and including deadly force. The firearm is just a more efficient and well designed means of doing it.
