Those that get their supplies now might be the ones taking the lead in the new system because they were alert and vigilant.

Great idea! As a matter of fact, the following is what I've already put in mine.
(1) Taurus 1911 .45ACP
(2) 5 Chip McCormick PowerMags
(3) Some 230 Grain Gold Dots
(4) 1 bottle of 40 Creek Canadian Whiskey.
(5) 1 pair underwear
(6) Cashews
Yeah, that should do it.

How is that Taurus? Pretty good? It seems really nice for the price!

It's really nice. The Heinie sights are easy to see and use, and it feels good in the hand, just the way a 1911 should. The only thing that's a pain is the barrel bushing and associated tool that comes with the gun. It's a real pain in the ass to put back in.
You hit on the best point though. The price is great for a loaded 1911.

*** w81 5/1 p. 7 Make a Success of Your Life Now *** Again, do Christians feel the need to make elaborate preparations for some possible future catastrophe? No.
Interesting. That was right in the middle of the years our book studies did GT drills every few months. We'd discuss how to identify edible plants in the woods, where to hide literature, changing your clothes to avoid being identified by Nazis, memorizing phone numbers and addresses of other dubs so the Nazis couldn't confiscate address books, etc.

So where did this idea originate, local elders, the current CO, anything in print?
There is a KM article a couple of years back about having an "emergency kit". I was still attending meetings then but already had a kit because that's just of a smart thing to do. That same night there was letter read about the Book Study conductors getting the contact numbers of everyone in their bookstudy. My BS conductor had an old busy-body sister do it for him...but that's a different story. The letter also talked about knowing where people live in your congregation, etc.
Then probably about 8 months ago, a letter was read regarding having a backpack in case you have to be mobile. People actually got together and went backpack shopping.

An Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie (AFDB) is a type of headwear that can shield your brain from most electromagnetic psychotronic mind control carriers. AFDBs are inexpensive (even free if you don't mind scrounging for thrown-out aluminium foil) and can be constructed by anyone with at least the dexterity of a chimp (maybe bonobo). This cheap and unobtrusive form of mind control protection offers real security to the masses. Not only do they protect against incoming signals, but they also block most forms of brain scanning and mind reading, keeping the secrets in your head truly secret. AFDBs are safe and operate automatically. All you do is make it and wear it and you're good to go! Plus, AFDBs are stylish and comfortable.
If you could only convince them to start wearing them at the meetings to test the efficacy.

BTW, Your witness families will be just fine. Preparedness is a plus. But remember, it's the dissidents that Jah will go after.

There was a part on the meeting this past year, I believe it was from a KM (or maybe it was a KM part based on a magazine article), that encouraged this sort of behavior. I don't think it said "backpacks" per se but it did encourage hoarding supplies for disaster.

Five gallons of water, canned food, and flashlights? That might be good advice to prepare for a snowstorm or a hurricane. But, supposing that Almighty Lowlife Scumbag decides to keep the Great Tribulation going for, say, 20 years? Or even longer--it is quite possible for Jehovah Baghead to decide to keep it going for people's whole lifetimes, so whole generations will be born and die not knowing anything else, before "cutting it short" a billion years later.
At which point, I don't know what people are going to do when they start running out of supplies.
The other major flaw with this plan is, what happens if the Great Tribulation never comes, or if it comes 100 years from now? All that stuff is going to go out of date, and then it will be useless when you really need it. And then you will have to replace it, defeating the purpose of being ready for Armageddon in the first place.
Yes, stock up for an emergency. At this time of year, we can get blizzards, ice storms, and tornadoes. In summer, it's severe thunderstorms and hurricanes. At any time, it could be earthquakes. As with Y2K, the best advice is to prepare for a snowstorm, not the end of the world.
