Is there anyone on the GB who has more than a high school certificate?

Some time this week I will be interviewed by a couple of university students doing a project on Jehovahs' Witnesses. The one I spoke to knows very little about them.

It will be an interview on my personal experience as a JW but from her initial phone call we saw that my answers easily led to more questions. She doesn't realize she is talking about a cult but began to get the idea that the WTS has a lot of control over the lives of JWs.

So the education thing came up and I explained how education beyond high school was not encouraged and even though they give lip service to it post-secondary education is still not highly recommended.

Which got me to thinking. How many of the GB have an education beyond high school? How many even finished high school considering what the world was like in the 40's and 50s when many of the GB would have been of the right age?

Barb? any Bethelites? anyone have an idea?

The likelihood of that is not very good , most of the GB today were indoctrinated the same way men in their age group were, that being that higher

education was deemed fruitfully pointless being that they were so close to the end of this system of things.

The words college or university degree are not associated with the GB or the other middle management drones such as DO, CO, PO or Congregational elders.

Thats the biggest indirect problem with JWS they were started by an individual who was not well educated, perhaps not to his fault being the era

which he lived , but his ignorance certainly created the power and the finances to create this enormous publishing corporation, which further on

other men wanted to attach themselves to and the rest of course is history.

There are the unusual ones, duly noted, but speaking in broad terms of higher education as a selective group I don't think so.

I corrected your spelling I hope you don't mind dissed .

Doug I think you may be right.

I think it was said that Franz had a better education than most on the GB. Don't know about Knorr and I don't have my book. And though it was a while back Rutherford had enough university to become a lawyer.

I definitely think that the men who are on the board grew up in a time where only the wealthy went to university.

But these are journalism students; the people of the future who might be willing to expose the WTS for what it is. I could use some FACTS if there are any.

There are Bethelites that have been medical doctors, dentists, engineers, lawyers.

Yes - there are some educated ones. They came in AFTER.

From my experience - most young ones dropped out of high-school. Sad, really.

What about Judah ben Schroeder who is taking higher education to be a lawyer. That is an "after" experience.
