Ray Franz would know. Why don't you ask him, Lee? I think he talked about them only having "high school" education in one of his books. That could anything from "some" high school to actually graduating. Since the average age of the GB is now around 134 years, I wonder if any of them except the few younger ones, even went past 9th grade.

One fact is not disputable: NONE of them are considered scholars by any meaningful definition.

Ray Franz graduated high school and went immediately to full-time preaching

    Covington was a lawyer

Dunlap - Franz says he was "of ordinary education" (CoC p 274) but that could mean anything

Can't find much on any of them

It would be safe to say that there are a few that do have a high school diploma and even higher than that , but it should be realized that

it not a common occurrence for reasons that I mentioned previously.

Mind you the younger generation today have a different perspective on education than did the previous generation.

I'm seeing more JW youngsters today reaching up to get a HSD and even further than that.

Different circumstances and totally different times.

As anyone heard of a JW with a PHD. in theology ?

Only a handfull of JW's have a college diploma. Franz and Schroeder did.

I doubt seriously if there were some newer ones on the GB who actually did go to college that they would promote it. It would appear to be hypocritical to their anti higher education stand.

True Jeff, they may have it but they would not like to make notice or draw attention to it for reasons as you state.

" Colleges and universities are places of evil ungodliness " remember that from the 60's and up.

The WTS. has always deemed higher education as a endearing threat to their organization., not unlike many other formed religious cults out and about !

They discouraged pursuing it and in its place pushed for going into their special devised ministry, to lure more drones so they too can

be become free working obedient slaves to sell and buy their literature.

Those graduating from Gilead used to get some kind of diploma; do they still?

*** w53 8/1 p. 477 par. 40 Gathering Men of All Nations into One Flock ***On the diploma of each graduate of the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead this statement appears: "He is therefore graduated as specially qualified to engage in educational work, promoting good will and working in behalf of permanent peace and the law of perfect order and righteousness among all peoples." The members of the present graduating class will go forth to show their qualification for this lofty mission the same as have the previous twenty classes, in the many lands to which they are assigned to go and preach the Kingdom good news. They will co-operate with all other witnesses of Jehovah throughout the field, the world.

*** w50 10/1 p. 343 par. 8 The Way of Success ***Some of us may have been privileged as full-time ministers of God to attend the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead and graduate from it and receive a diploma of merit. That has been a great blessing to all such graduates, and it has put them far ahead in understanding God’s will and in being able to study his Word and to teach others.

*** g81 11/22 p. 19 Missionaries—What Really Should Be Their Work? ***Can it promote goodwill among people, as the diploma given to the Gilead missionaries promises?

    *** w01 12/15 p. 27 A Willing Spirit Brings People to Gilead ***

After the students were given their diplomas, a spokesman for the class read a letter of sincere appreciation for the training that they had received at Gilead.

Franz dropped out of college after 2 1/2 years. He never graduated.

I don't have WT Library on this computer, but didn't he go to the University of Cincy then turned down an Oxford scholarship? (according to his life story in the WT) I always thought he graduated, then turned down the scholarship?

    No matter, I stand corrected.
