JT, man I can't believe I missed the obvious,

"The Watchtower appropriately is a prophet of sorts"

Well You Know, since the Watchtower Society is just a prophet of sorts, and they say they represent Jehovah. Perhaps Jehovah is just a God of sorts. Again, You Know, why would the Almighty God want his name on an orginization that has never had a prophecy it has issued forth come true?

You aren't as clever as you imagine. The Watchtower has never issued a prophecy. That's the point. They don't claim to be prophets in that sense. That's why the whole apostate charge of being a false prophet is rubbish. They are prophets in the sense of having the God given authority to speak in Jehovah's name. In that sense they are prophets of a sort, the sort that does not have inspiration but an assignment and authority. The Bible is the only source of prophecy and to the extent that Jehovah has revealed the proper understanding of those prophecies we can say that we know them. By Jehovah's own word many prophecies are sealed until a future point in time when Jehovah reveals them to those whom he deems worthy. That's how it works.

Oh okay You Know, whatever you say. So that whole 1975 thing was just a simple misunderstanding. Oh yea, what was that about in the 1940s when the Society said just as soon as WWII ended so too will this system? Oh yea, what was that about the Generation that saw 1914? Tell me You Know, what about Judge Rutherford saying that 1925 would be it? Speaking of 1914, wasn't that when C. T. Russell said the end would be? Didn't C.T. Russell say that 1919 would also be the end. There also was some speculation about 1984 being the year, because it was 70 years after 1914.

No, I never imagined to be clever, I felt like giving you some hell. I left you some questions on another thread, care to take a crack at them?

    YK i love it

    for he says:

"They don't claim to be prophets in that sense"

it is so amazing that for those of us who have been jw for many years this Old Time Favorite WT Phrase is just to good to let slide

    "IN THAT SENSE"

I have always loved the way the wt could take something and then add the phrase "In a Sense" and change the entire meaning

well YK we all Know the meaning of the word Prophet, we all know how the wt has applied it to other faiths who have claimed that title of being the ONLY TRUE PROPHET on the earth and we all know how the wt tries along with the help of dudes like you WIGGLE out of the hole that you all have dug

    man i just love that'

I CAN SEE SOME GUY after trying out the WT Technique:

"Honey, Now don't get mad because I made sex with my secretary IN A SENSE"

    I love it

I must say it is only when one stops and takes a step back do you realize how foolish the wt dogmas are and how many of us just like YK tried our very best to twist and turn that stuff so it wouldn't sound so stupid

Let me put words into You Know's mouth, sort of like the Watchtower Society does for the Almighty God.

I WILL be the first to admit i clearly see why the wt doesn't want it's members on sites like this engaging in dialoggs like this

most of the boys in writing know that if they had to appear on tv or any other forum to defend this stuff they would lose- so who do we get
we get guys like YK who are viewed in the org as "Male Flunkies"

and you are so right each post of his provides more insight into how a jw is forced to support dogmas that everyone else sees are not supportable

when i asked the folks on the job to define prophet - they all knew what it was real simple-

a dude comes to town says god sent him with a message the message fails- he lied -he is no prophet- simple and to the point
all this about "Sort of" "In a Sense" and all that SPIN CONTROL only makes any real student of the bible or research in general laugh

when the principals of Critical thinking are applied to this issue of
trying to explain how wt is a prophet- yet not responisble for getting the message right is a joke

    thanks for the followup

Oh okay You Know, whatever you say. So that whole 1975 thing was just a simple misunderstanding.

Are you completely ignorant of why many of Jehovah's Witnesses looked to the year 1975? Do you think it was just something someone made up? Even most XJW's know that the 1975 fiasco had a foundation in Biblical chronology. That's what made it seem credible in the minds of those who greatly respected the authority of the Scriptures. All such speculation had some basis in Bible chronology. That's what makes the charge of false prophet ludicrios. It was a misunderstanding of chornology and prophecy. As I pointed out, the apostles fell into the same pitfall. As for your other questions, I will give them a read and comment tommorrow as I find the time. / You Know
