Are Jehovah's Witnesses evil?

    Sexy Teen,

Welcome. I too am new to the forum and I can tell you that it very thought provoking. You will find atheists to bible thumpers to even one who claims to be Jesus Christ. Most post ideas and thoughts that appear sincere and are not too personal.

I myself have never been a JW but I came here after a dear friend joined this year. I am Catholic and when she joined we started having alot of discussions about the differences in our religions, like the Trinity for example. For months myself and another co-worker talked to her about JW and the problems with their beliefs. She was willing to talk to us as long as it looked as if she was trying to convert us and not us trying to convert her. Even when she was shown the obvious changes the JW made in their Bible to fit their believes she refused to look at them. Ultimately she stated that the elders had warned her not to talk to us anymore. We stopped out of love and respect for her. Also, she now has the attitude that only the JWs are right and that every other religion is apostate. The transformation has been sad to see.

You are on the verge of a great part of your life. you will be exposed to things you were not exposed to before and to thoughts and ideas that will be new to you. I encourage you to take that time to examine your beliefs and those of the JW. If they stand up for you that is great. If they don't that will be your choice. The problem is that the org. seems to prevent that type of thought out of fear that someone will discover a different way of thinking. From what I see here, the price for that is shunning and that is horrible. I can tell you that my decision to become a Catholic was made recently after I became an adult, but it went against my families southern Baptist background. They respected the decision and have treated me and my family no different. Ask yourself if yours would do the same and see how much control the org. really has over your life.

    Good luck and God Bless

#4: About Armageddon, well I know the Bible talks about it and I believe the Bible. But you are free to believe that it won't happen. - sexy teen

the bible indeed talks about it,
as a place not an event,
and it is only mentioned in one verse of one chapter of Revelations

    Hello SexyTeen,

I'd add my two cents to this discussion but you've already been given enough information that amounts to a priceless gift that many of us were never given. If you make the right decision from this point, you could save yourself twenty or thirty or more wasted years and many regrets later on. From where I sit, you have a choice, having come this far:

    1. Find some way to save this thread and re-read it several times. Drop your defenses and your "overcoming objections" mentality and LISTEN. I'm not saying "believe," but at least listen. Please. Hear what these people are telling you and give it some serious thought,

    or

    2. Keep being the typical teen and so therefore keep knowing everything.

It's up to you. I hope you at least consider what you've been told. Either way, whatever you decide, may Jehovah bless you always.

    Peace,
    tj

In one sentence you dismissed the lifetime of sacrifices that were made in the name of the JW religion - sacrifices that were tossed out the window in a heartbeat as soon as 'doubts' were expressed. It's the same excuse the 'brothers' have made for every failed prophesy - "Sorry, now get back to preaching!"

Btw, thank you NameWithheld for saying the above.

I was already well through the exit when the Watchtower announced the 'new light' on "generation" and "the sheep and the goats." Forget about the lost chance to go college, the abuse I took as a kid for not standing for the pledge of allegiance, having to sit in the library all alone when there was a Christmas or birthday party... forget all that.

Their attitude in '95 was like, "oh, all those times you thought you were helping angels? All those hours over the years when we told you angels were watching over you in field service to see how others would respond to your presentations? Well... ooops! Sorry. We were wrong. We feel *this* way now, so go and preach *this*, dumbass."

Somebody might as well have slapped me with a two by four. In ONE SENTENCE in a magazine, years of personal effort were deemed of no account. So, I thought, "Never seen Jehovah do THAT before. Cool. See ya."

    Haven't looked back.

OUTLAW-in my haste to type my message, I meant that she gives me the same answers my mother does. Verbatim. They must recite these responses during the Tuesday nite book study!

I doubt she is my mother. My Mom would have figured out by now who I am and would be calling screaming at me. However, being a good JW, she will not visit APOSTATE sites. Then again, my mother thinks demons and Satan can come through e-mail.....

Perhaps Sexy Teen forgot she is hanging with the "bad associations" that are going to "spoil her useful habits!"

"About Armageddon, well I know the Bible talks about it and I believe the Bible. But you are free to believe that it won't happen. - sexy teen "

Yes, you are 'free' to believe it won't happen, but if you expressed that opinion in private (and it was reported to Elders) or at the Kingdom Hall, if you did not repent of your apostacy, you would be disfellowshipped (if you were baptised).

Just be carefull; I'm 36 now, and begining to regret that I didn't plan ahead for getting older, as I really need to do so now. And that's a direct result of being told the end was coming, the end was coming.

Don't whitewash the problems of the past because they don;t effect you!

    All the best.

    Hi-

I thought you might like to read my story. I was about your age when I was baptized as a JW.

You have an interesting journey ahead of you. I will keep you in my prayers.

    about the smoking coment,
Jws are allowed 6 months to quit smoking or be dfd, the last I herd. which i find strange because you have to be baptized before you can be dfd
So I guess if you get baptized and then take up smoking you have 6 months from the day that they find out about it to quit.
