    Pseudoscholar:

My conviction of Furuli's proof of the Babylobian Gap is well established by Bible chronology so I can quite ably defend the matter.

My reply: so-called bible chronology that you have been refuted on ad nauseum? Ok, LOL

The funny thing is, in the end it really makes no difference whatsoever when the first temple was destroyed because there is nothing to link the "7 times" mentioned in Daniel to the "appointed time of the nations" spoken of in Luke. They are two completely separate time periods. The book of Daniel clearly states that the "7 times" is talking about the 7 years that Nebuchadnezzar went nuts and lived like an animal until his kingdom was restored to him.

The "appointed time of the nations" is mentioned as starting when the Romans sacked Jerusalem in 70CE and extending for an unspecified length of time. Luke specificially states that "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations" as in the future tense. The Borg of course, in some of their publications inserts the word "continue to be" after the word "will" to try and promote their ridiculous doctrine that the 'trampling' started back in 607 BCE. Now pseudo-scholar, what does the bible say will be the fate of those who "add" things to the bible?

According to the book Gentile Times Reconsidered there are 17 lines of evidence (both secular and biblical) that points to 586BCE, there is also a review of Furuli's work on the appendix pages that proves all Furuli's theories wrong.

Not only that he proves 607BCE is wrong, but also that the bible is in harmony with 586BCE, Jeremiah, Daniel and others.

It is said that 'a little knowledge is dangerous' so I believe that you are well advised to take up your concerns with Furuli directly.

We were supposed to be discussing Hunger's Review and his concerns with Furuli's book, remember?

My conviction of Furuli's proof of the Babylobian Gap is well established by Bible chronology so I can quite ably defend the matter.

After many years on the board, we are still waiting for you to 'ably defend the matter.' So far you have failed miserably.

No I can make an assessment of not only Hunger's review but also Jonsson's 5 part series. My assessment is one of collusion and desperation.

Your assessment is according to lack of knowledge and 'expertise' on your part (as you admitted above) so it's worth squat.

Your stupidity lies not in the fact of the matter but that of rashly ignoring what I had originally said about VAT 4956 and my activities surrounding it.

You hardly know anything about VAT 4956. All you have is a dodgy English translation which unfortunately misunderstood parts of the discussion to do with the technical astronomical side of N/W's study, and Furuli's provably erroneous claims about it. Therefore, again, you've been speaking from a position of ignorance because you refuse to test the diary for yourself, while ignoring all the reputable scholarship on it, and making dumb comments about the nature of N/W's work as a result.

Prov. 18:13 - "When anyone is replying to a matter before he hears [it], that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation." And, Neil, as long as you persist on pronouncing on matters that you haven't properly examined, you will continue to look foolish and be humiliated.

It took a while to understand the tie in and why this subject is so important. Maybe next time you can post the watchtower information.

A prophecy in the Bible book of Daniel states: “Chop the tree down, and ruin it. However, leave its rootstock itself in the earth, but with a banding of iron and of copper . . . until seven times themselves pass over it.” (Daniel 4:23) As we will see, the “seven times” mentioned here are equal in length to “the appointed times of the nations.”

    2,520 years

    October 607B.C.E.C.E.October 1914
    606 1/4 years1,913 3/4 years

“The appointed times of the nations”
    began in 607 B.C.E. and ended in 1914 C.E.

In the Bible, individuals, rulers, and kingdoms are at times represented by trees. (Psalm 1:3; Jeremiah 17:7, 8; Ezekiel, chapter 31) The symbolic tree “was visible to the extremity of the whole earth.” (Daniel 4:11) Thus, the rulership represented by the tree that was to be chopped down and banded extended “to the extremity of the earth,” involving the whole kingdom of mankind. (Daniel 4:17, 20, 22) The tree therefore represents the supreme rulership of God, particularly in its relationship to the earth. This rulership was expressed for a time through the kingdom that Jehovah set up over the nation of Israel. The symbolic tree was cut down, and bands of iron and copper were placed upon the stump in order to prevent its growth. This indicated that God’s representative rulership on earth was to cease its operation, as happened in 607 B.C.E.—but not indefinitely. The tree would remain banded until “seven times” had passed. At the end of that period, Jehovah would give rulership to the legal heir, Jesus Christ. Clearly, the “seven times” and “the appointed times of the nations” refer to the same time period.

The Bible helps us to determine the length of the “seven times.” It equates 1,260 days with “a time [one time] and times [two times, plural] and half a time”—a total of three and a half “times.” (Revelation 12:6, 14) This means that twice that number, or seven times, is 2,520 days.

When we count 2,520 literal days from 607 B.C.E., we come to 600 B.C.E. However, the seven times lasted much longer than that. They were still in progress when Jesus spoke of “the appointed times of the nations.” The seven times, therefore, are prophetic. Hence, we must apply the Scriptural rule: “A day for a year.” (Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6) In that case, the seven times of earth’s domination by worldly powers without divine interference amount to 2,520 years. Counting 2,520 years from 607 B.C.E. brings us to 1914 C.E. That is the year when “the appointed times of the nations,” or seven times, ended. This means that Jesus Christ began to rule as King of God’s Kingdom in 1914.

If every Babylonian archeological remain excavated were synchronous with the Biblical timetable then what?

I think it's obvious that people here do not want Judgment Day to come that's why you go to great lenths to undermine the Bible. There's very little next to nothing in the riddled mesh of information people post that follows any-kind of logical thought process that can be understood. The conversation switches back and forth from a case against God to opposition against JWs. If a closed mind towards Jehovah's Witnesses makes people scatter brained and unreasonably dissident, that may be the problem. This guy couldn't find any common ground here either.

I like being around happy people that love life. IMO, the site has degenerated into a place where everyone can go to complain, hate, and tear down faith of any type. I respect the beliefs of all of you. However, when the conversations degrade into attacks against the God that I love and know, I cannot partake in the conversation anymore.

The symbolic tree "was visible to the extremity of the whole earth." (Daniel 4:11) Thus, the rulership represented by the tree that was to be chopped down and banded extended "to the extremity of the earth," involving the whole kingdom of mankind.

As per usual, they pick and choose what parts they want to take symbolically and which part they want to take literally. Daniel 4:11 says that this symbolic tree "grew up and became strong, and its very height finally reached the heavens, and it was visible to the extremity of the whole earth." So if they take the "extremity of the whole earth" as being literal, then they have to also take the part about its height reaching "the heavens" as being literal too. They don't. And in actuality, there never was any sort of kingdom "involving the whole kingdom of mankind". The Israelites had the Kingdom of David but that involved them--the Israelites, not everyone on planet earth.

The tree therefore represents the supreme rulership of God, particularly in its relationship to the earth.

Better tell that to the bible writers because Daniel 4 makes it perfectly clear that the tree represents Nebuchadnezzar:

(Daniel 4:20-22) ". . .The tree that you beheld, that grew great and became strong and the height of which finally reached the heavens and which was visible to all the earth....it is you, O king, because you have grown great and become strong, and your grandeur has grown great and reached to the heavens, and your rulership to the extremity of the earth. . ."

Pretty straight forward eh? No mention whatsoever of it referring to the 'supreme rulership of God'.

The Bible helps us to determine the length of the "seven times." It equates 1,260 days with "a time [one time] and times [two times, plural] and half a time"-a total of three and a half "times." (Revelation 12:6, 14) This means that twice that number, or seven times, is 2,520 days.

Now why would anyone need to zip over to Revelation to find out what "seven times" was, when the scripture in question already has the answer:

(Daniel 4:34) ". . .To you it is being said, O Nebuchadnez′zar the king, ‘The kingdom itself has gone away from you, and from mankind they are driving even you away, and with the beasts of the field your dwelling will be. Vegetation they will give even to you to eat just like bulls, and seven times themselves will pass over you, until you know that the Most High is Ruler in the kingdom of mankind, and that to the one whom he wants to he gives it.........And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnez′zar, lifted up to the heavens my eyes, and my own understanding began to return to me; and I blessed the Most High himself, and the One living to time indefinite I praised and glorified, because his rulership is a rulership to time indefinite and his kingdom is for generation after generation. . ."

Clearly, the 'seven times' is 'seven years' and it applies directly to how long Nebuchadnezzar lived like an animal. There's nothing to indicate it means anything else.

When we count 2,520 literal days from 607 B.C.E., we come to 600 B.C.E. However, the seven times lasted much longer than that. They were still in progress when Jesus spoke of "the appointed times of the nations."

More rubbish from the 'Slaaaave Class'. As I noted in my earlier post, there's absolutely nothing to link what happened to Nebuchadnezzar with the 'appointed time of the nations' that Jesus spoke about. The point is therefore irrelavant.

If every Babylonian archeological remain excavated were synchronous with the Biblical timetable then what?

If archeological remains of a unicorn were excavated then what? Then we would have extinct unicorns. But until that occurs there is no point of living a fantasy and believing in fiction made up by wts is idiotic.
