    Darthfader:

"So it seems to me that removing the financial incentive to offshore labor from corporations would go a lot farther than forming a union for better wages here."

Even though removing the financial motive for outsourcing is imperative; corporations, no matter what the circumstances are, will reduce wages to the greatest extent possible. That is why, in the context of this society (My actual beliefs are very different), both protectionism and unions acting concurrently will be necessary.

So, which corporation should "take one for the team" and use local labor at the expense of shareholder profit?

Good question, but it's not going to work that way. Mr Bee outsources much of his labor to China - but if he stopped doing that and raised his prices accordingly, his one (huge) customer would simply drop him from their vendor list. This is where government steps in - to protect small business, big business, consumers and employees - because they are the only one who can do it.

I wonder how the protests are going to play out? Unions were put in place for workers to have rights. What is wrong with that?

This link is for Sam and anyone else who wants to start learning about the plutocrats and their sneaky take over of our country.

    Ohhh Villa beeeebeeeewuzhuuwuzhuuuuuu! (pinches cheeks)

If things were working as above, your beliefs might not be soooooooooo different. By the way, have I ever shown you my plans for a separate but communal living area? I read up on crops and crop rotation, septic systems, looked at land...............etc.

Huh? What language are you speaking Beks? You're not getting Pentecostal on us, are ya?

Nope, you've never shown me your communistic master plan. Has it come up on Becks schizoboard yet? Be careful where you post your plans, I heard he's desperate for new material. We don't want him scrawling JWN in chalk next to Van Jones picture.

Actually, I'm not into communal living quarters. I'm into self reliant villages where some of the work, in growing food, may be communal.

Have you read about Permaculture? No rotation necessary. Much more advanced and efficient than anything else.
