If God exists and ordered a Purge how would you react?

And I wouldn't bother asking why he spared me. I'd know why.

The question might be moot from an omniscient perspective. It's not moot to us because so many of us believe that God is a killer. That in itself gives the question serious merrit.

    True.

I did say that I find it moot, though (perhaps not clearly). To me. I have come to the understanding that I do not have a higher morality than God. Yes, that is based on the belief that God is seen through Christ. And from all that I know about Christ, I do not have a higher morality than Him, and so not his Father either.

But you're right, the question itself should be asked and discussed.

No more global floods that's all he promised.

I know, but that's semantics, at least to me. Witnesses use it all the time. When I was doing my study, one of the sisters told me about a recent jw with an unbelieving husband. He had apparently forbidden her to walk out the front door and go to another meeting. So she left by the back door. Everyone laughed: She still obeyed - to the letter- but in my mind I was only thinking that she obeyed in a 'loophole' kind of way, which at the heart of the matter was no way at all. She knew exactly what he meant.

Sab, yes. There was a clear agreement between God and Israel. Israel broke that deal. Is your question in reference to life after Israel?

It's not moot to you since the answer to the question from others will ultimately effect you. You might not find the question intellectually stimulating but it's not moot at all.

The more people who condone vicious acts of God the more this world turns darker.

My question is about the covenant between God and Abraham which was verbal right? He told Abraham that his descendants would be the chosen ones, but he didn't tell him of any fine print.

@Sab - " I would argue that he gave his gig to us. History provides strong evidence that we have the reins, no?"

True...to a point. Let's use this illustration; If you have four children and one of those four children is threatening the other three within an inch of their life, would you stand for it? Or would you put a stop to it? The way I understand it, God has always allowed "us" to have the reins just long enough to prove that we can't handle governing ourselves.

The bottom line is; We need Him, we're proving that we can't do it without Him.

P.S. I'm not a Right Wing Nut Job, I'm just a reasonable, common sense, thinking guy.....

I find it interesting that you feel you can compare yourself to Christ so intimately. Between Jesus and you, you have far more experience as a human than he ever will. He should be coming to you for human advice which includes morality.

Btw, Jesus condoned the eventual Purge that Bible fortells will occur by the hands of God of which by your belief IS Jesus.

You speak as if you have experience after experience of "God swooping in right before we blew it too much."

History dictates that when we mess up the repercussions are not witheld in any manner.

Sab, yes he did tell Abraham that his descendants would be the chosen ones. However.... chosen or not, there are/were still guidelines for life and worship of God. I think the message was to Moses at that time, not with Israel buecause it did not yet exist. It was not the appropriate time for contracts and clauses...

    Just my thoughts....
