If God exists and ordered a Purge how would you react?

I think Jesus would step in and remind God that he is LOVE. 1 John 4:8 "God is love."

    Then he'd read him 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:

" 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

    8 Love never fails."

    Then God'd say, "Never mind."

Then he'd resurrect everyone he killed and hold a press conference for a public apology for killing everyone.

with joy, its about time. Put the TV on and have a look at whats going on around you?

this world is done, worn out and tired, needs to be refreshed and re-booted.

Jehovah has done nothing but good for me and my family, so it is his gig, his play list just hope we are singing the same song when we feel the shake.

    SAM WHISKEY:

If and when there is a 'purge' by God/Jehovah or a god of any other name, there is not a damn thing we can do about it. As far as us dying: yes, people have been dying since the beginning of time and I realize we are not special, no matter what we believe about ourselves. And, yes, He does hold all the chips. Looking at the biblical record though, He had 'few' men that he called friends. To be perfectly honest, I consider him to be a cruel god and not loving at all. So, I think we are screwed (although maybe YOU are in his friend category for whatever reason).

As far as being His 'friend', I hope you are not referring to association with the JW religion (even though you claim you are not a JW). In my opinion, the JW religion is too corrupt to be counted on and I never believed their presumptuous divine claims of being 'spokespersons for God'. I think they feel that because their religion has the magic name, they can do anything and be forgiven. Pure arrogance. My experience in that religion was traumatic and I am still getting over it.

They are no better than any other religion, no matter what they profess.

Why does everyone insist that it is God that has killed everyone? Just because some ancient book says so? Some book people claim that God wrote. Ridiculous. In much of the Bible, it is difficult to distinguish God from Satan. Jesus would need to save us from that hateful God. To the Dogg: if you really feet that way, you sure would not be posting here. Only deep down doubts would allow you to sign up here and post. Welcome in your first step on your path to deliverance.

Dearest PSacto and FHN... the greatest of love and peace to you both!

In response to the title question I, too, thought "Hopefully I will react and respond as Abraham, Moses, and our Lord did... by 'standing in the gap' and asking for mercy FOR those in line for such 'purge'." I dunno, though: folks can really tick me off sometimes, so, again, I HOPE I will have the requisite love to even remember to ask! I pray for that kind of love all the time. I NEED to ask for it! LOLOLOLOL! Given that I do need to ask, it would be most arrogant of me, knowing myself, to say that I absolutely would. I pray I would. Because it is what I would want someone to do for me and MY household!

Anyway, I just wanted to say, in support of your respective comments:

"Out of the mouth of babes."

    Again, peace to you both!

YOUR servant, sister, and fellow slave of Christ,

    SA

AGuest, I do believe Jesus is God's son. I believe in the God of Love mentioned in the New Testament. I believe he loves all of his children. Human beings as well as angels. Wayward and faithful, his loves never fails for us.

It's less of an assumption than it is an educated guess. It isn't based on how I think God "feels." I haven't really spelled out my complete theory of God so it's only natural for you to think I am making blind assumptions about the nature of God.

I didn't think yours was a blind assumption, Sab. But neither was my statement. Mine is also based on reason, and the knowledge of my own moral limitations. I was just trying to point out what seemed to be a double standard. Not maliciously or anything. Just to point it out... as I hope you would do for me.

As for the question of the thread itself, I have a hard time answering. Because I don't believe such a purge would happen - except in the case of protecting the innocent. One of the biggest reasons I decided 'not' to get baptized was not because I did not believe. Because I DID believe all the stuff they were teaching me about Armageddon. I had just somehow missed that all those who died during armageddon would not be resurrected. When I read that, I knew I couldn't be a part of it. So I stopped studying. I thought my morality was more compassionate than God's. But what I should have realized - had I been looking through Christ, had I actually known God through his Son - was that God is love and compassion. I should have trusted Him, and known by the literature, that the wts was NOT representing Him.
