If God exists and ordered a Purge how would you react?

The bottom line is; We need Him, we're proving that we can't do it without Him.

See this is where I just can't agree. Again while reading history all I see is progress. Sure it's up and down all the time but eventually we learn our lesson and are better for it. The unfortunate fact is that sometimes we don't learn our lesson before our time is up and we end up harming many in our life. For every person that tears down there are two to build back up that's what I see when I look at our history compared to now.

Sab, yes he did tell Abraham that his descendants would be the chosen ones. However.... chosen or not, there are/were still guidelines for life and worship of God. I think the message was to Moses at that time, not with Israel buecause it did not yet exist. It was not the appropriate time for contracts and clauses...

But Abe didn't get told that. Maybe if God told him about these "rules" then he would have warned his people. Maybe he could have helped it not happen? But he just lived in blissful ignorance while being God's best bud and thinking his people were going to have a rich history. It didn't turn out that way.

Sab - " You speak as if you have experience after experience of "God swooping in right before we blew it too much." History dictates that when we mess up the repercussions are not witheld in any manner."

In the context of sinning against Jehovah, yes. In every instance, he could have done more damage. In the case of Adam and Eve, he could have sentenced them to death instantly. However, his love for mankind moved him to spare them for a great period of time so that mankind could continue on.

He could have completely wiped out the Jews, but he did not. He allowed some to survive, the ones that heeded the warnings. I don't view that as Monster of a God, I see that as giving you more chances at survival than you deserve.

People tend to see how bad God was/is; however, how many work to see the flip side of the coin.... his patience? Instead of finding fault with how you percieve him as being a bad guy, how about seeing the good side of Him? Do you think your parents were the worst people on the planet because they spanked you as a little boy? Or do think they were trying to give you some guidence through corrective actions?

I know, but that's semantics, at least to me.

How is it just semantics? Why would he explicitly speak about floods in particular? Just to confuse us?

Sab - I agree, it does seem we have made a lot of progress over the history of time.

Still, it isn't going to change the outcome. God will do what he has to do,.... no one can change that. You either agree or you don't, simple.

Edited to add: Or....option #3, you die like all mankind before you.

His love for mankind? Or was his ego jabbed when his creations told him they wanted to be on their own? The majority of mankind has rejected God. They are more interested in their made up gods then him and always have been. Why? because they are sinners? That's a lazy explanation of a complex phenomenon. These people want freedom and have consistantly told God, by their actions, that they want no part of his plan. He gave us free will and we choose death it's that simple, right? The minority wants to give up their free will. Because that is what it is going to take to live under the God of the Bible's rule. He calls the shots.

Btw, Jesus condoned the eventual Purge that Bible fortells will occur by the hands of God of which by your belief IS Jesus.

Which purge is that? The jw one?

Between Jesus and you, you have far more experience as a human than he ever will. He should be coming to you for human advice which includes morality.

LOL, how old do you think I am? At the most, I'm a couple years older than He was before He was crucified. Even so, he's seen more throughout time about human nature than I will ever know in my entire lifetime.

Let me give you an illustration:

You have a best friend that you do everything together. He has always been there to support you and you trust him with your life. One day he gets into a fight with your 12 year old son and strangles him to death.

Are you going to overlook the homicide because of all the good he has done to you in the past? On the contrary the good things he did in the past are looked at in a different light because of a single act. I know of all the alleged good things God has done and it actually makes it worse.

The Bible says genocide is the answer and it always will.

    Hehe, older than 33! Right?

Even so just give it some time. By the time you die you will have much more human experience than Jesus.
