An Old Argument.... does it hold water?

THIS was the point that began this discussion - a point that has been haplessly ignored by the believers who have posted, while continuously brought back to the board by non-theists here.

Man, some of you either (1) really don't pay attention, (2) choose not to read, or (3) deal in deceit. You choose which one is accurate here, dear AKJ (peace to you!), but the point was addressed by several of us including myself:

"As to your thread question (i.e., "no matter which numbers you use, doesn't this make you arrive at one of the following conclusions?'), I would also have to answer, no, it does not, and that, in fact, there is another choice: that the Most Holy One of Israel has never promised to solve the ills of THIS world... but only those of certain people IN this world."

Of course, this doesn't perhaps comport with what you WANT to hear, the answers you WANT to receive... but it did respond to the question... and choices. It was absolutely NOT ignored. Now, if you want a thesis that addresses these with answers that fit YOUR paradigm, you should have clearly stated that.

But this, your assertion that the point was "haplessly" ignored is false and perhaps your desire to perpetuate that falsehood is deceitful. Perhaps not. Either way, it does absolutely NOTHING to "help" me see any reason to join your camp. Nothing whatsoever. To the contrary, things like this make me even MORE certain that I am where I am supposed to be... believing what is true BECAUSE IT IS TRUE... and not because someone is trying to "trick" me into believing it's true. As it seems you are doing here. Truly, I've always thought more highly of you than that. Perhaps I shouldn't have.

    Again, peace to you...

Right. So you worship a god who allows millions of death every year, millions of innocent, pointless death every year throughout the entire history of the world and human beings. He allows completely innocent animals to be abused and killed by horrible owners. (Animals that aren't going to any afterlife). Just so that when his son comes and judges us, he can only pick the smallest of the smallest percentage of the trillions and quadrillions of human beings who have died in the history of the world, and most of those innocent people won't even make it into heaven because they don't believe in Judeo-Christian doctrine. It's DEFINITELY logical to love that sort of god.

Because they are in association with the heavenly world. As it is written "you must be holy because I am holy". The people who obey that command are those who are helped. She is right.

Speaking of righteousness, I always thought the worst insult coming from Satan while tempting the Lord in the wilderness was IF you are the son of God.....

If satan is capable of thought it would sound like this (in my humble opinion) "If I can just get him doubting his identity..." Sound familiar?

The more believers write in defence of their impotent god the more pathetic he sounds.

Actually AGuest, I have read very little of what you have written - primarily because it all sounds like gibberish to me most of the time, and I usually don't have time to read a small essay or book that you write each time.

Your comment is a precise acceptance then of #2 isn't it? This comment I mean:

in fact, there is another choice: that the Most Holy One of Israel has never promised to solve the ills of THIS world... but only those of certain people IN this world.

God is not interested in the ills of man - unless as you state, it is certain men or people of whom he shows interest. So, he does not answer the prayers about starvation from a general mankind groaning under the pain of this horror?

Makes me want to jump right into your camp! Let's all go worship an asshole who picks and chooses what groups to bless - so poor starving Ethiopian children must not be on the list - or cancer sufferers - or people with heart disease - or lepers - or perhaps Russians or Chinese people? Or Buddhists?

But if we join AGuest's goofy group he will listen to us. OMG! Your just a JW in a different skin, eh?

    Jeff
