An Old Argument.... does it hold water?

Well, if believers suffer from it, then chances are non-believers suffer from it as well. Maybe regarding the reality of God, maybe just regarding some of their 'arguments' against Him. Hence, some questions that are asked of them, which go ignored.

    *shrugs*

What a non-believer is or suffers from, is their concern, and not really my business. I'm here because questions were asked of believers about God.

    Peace,

    Tammy

N.drew, your last post cleared that up so well. Thanks for that.

I understood that Nancy is saying that it is the root of a problem that we must address.

I would say that this is lack of love. If we really loved one another as much as we loved ourselves... there would be no starving children in Africa. No war between Israel and Palestine. There would be tolerance, respect, forgiveness... etc. The root of the problem is the lack of something within us... filled too often with anger, hatred, intolerance, greed, or apathy.

Tammy, lets give them what they came for (Christains disagreeing) I am moved to disagree, dear lady. Love is a gift from God. Eveyone does not have the faith to receive the gift. And they like it that way. So be it. But the Earth can't stand the lack of love. Not for long. So they need to put on the human equivalent of love which is tolerance. See how nice we fight? AGuest being the champion of nice. And fellas? When she gets all righteous sounding (I love it!) she in being in her role as teacher, even mother! Thank you Tammy, thank you Shelby!

    LOL.

We may disagree somewhat on the root problem, but I think we do agree that unless the root problem is dealt with (continued to be kicked down the road), then the problems that we constantly deal with (war, starvation, abuse, etc.) will just keep cropping up in various degrees and types.

I will see you all after work.

    Peace,

I think it was me who first raise the matter of ‘acts of God’ when I broke free from my chain and posted on page 16 - “For example let’s just look at the destruction and death caused so called ‘by acts of God.’ Earth quakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis.”

Several people have commented since and given the impression that I see these occurrences as acts of God. I don’t. That is why I prefixed my comment with “so called.” The term acts of God simply means that no human agency is responsible. They are unpreventable natural occurrences.

To believe them to really be acts of God, I would have to believe in an all powerful God. I don’t blame a non-existent God for anything or ask it for anything, nor can I be angry with a non-existent God. Sorry to repeat the same thing but as that’s what everyone else does, I didn’t want to be left out.

By the way, in regard to the question posed by this thread:

"Still, no matter which numbers you use, doesn't this make you arrive at one of the following conclusions?

    1- God is evil.
2- God cannot or will not hear and answer prayers.
3- An omnipotent god simply does not exist."

Can someone tell me what the verdict is?

God tolerates evil more than we can imagine.

Okay, since we obviously aren't going anywhere with this, I have one question.

What, if anything, would allow you to question your faith, or perhaps accept ideas proposed by a non believer?

This is aimed towards tec, AGuest, N.Drew, and any other believer.

I allow myself to question my faith. I have many, many times. I have also agreed with many of you, when I believe you are right. But to question the existence of the divinity I seek, doesn't make much sense, does it? Today is my day to seek the god, tomorrow is my day to believe he isn't.....That would be a problem for the "men in white coats..they're coming to take me away haha hehe whowho..." hoohoo...
