Thanks PHG that's really encouraging. I had my operation mid-April. Now I'm off chemo I can get the temp ilio reversed. My surgeon is on my christmas card list for successfully looking after a lot of important nerves and blood vessels :)

I think the chemo and cancer specialist nurses are fantastic. The surgeons and onco are clinically excellent but the nurses are very aware of the person as well well as the disease.

BTS - its always good to hear about people who have put this behind them for good.

NC - I so hope you get the treatment you need asap. It must be so frustrating to know you it exists but you can't get your hands on it.

    Thanks everybody for your support.

(That's more smileys in one post than I used all last year)

It's good to loosen up a little. My big bro and his wife have been dealing with waves of this plague for about 5 years now. A zest for life, such as you have, along with doing all you need to do, will take you a long way.

I'm not sure what kind of cancer you had, but I wish you well and a complete recovery. My husband had bladder cancer at age 48, very young for that. We think childhood exposure to a potent insecticide that his dad brought home from the factory that was later removed from the market because tests showed it caused bladder cancer in rats was probably the cause. Anyway, his had only a 15 percent survival rate at the five year mark, but here we are at five years and no cancer. I just had surgery in April also, a double mastectomy, and I'm cancer free now, too, they say. I'll probably be getting a hysterectomy though, since I had the breast cancer gene. So it is as they now say, it's not considered a terminal illness much anymore, rather a chronic illness, one that might keep popping up, then you treat it again, but you can go for decades with mostly healthy times between. Wishing you the very best!! It sure makes you appreciate the times you have when you are healthy, doesn't it!
