I don't dislike Paul at all. I feel for him. We have no idea what people asked him, what they were e x pecting of him, or how many different ways he might have tried to e x plain the same point. We have a glimpse of him from his letters but we don't know what he was like in person. We know only that he was loved.

Plus, Paul had just come out of a strict pharisiacal view, and was now embracing that which he had spent how long condemning? Who knows how many hang-ups he had to work through in the beginning? Things like the rules and the law over mercy and love? He got it, obviously... because most of his letters place emphasis on love, hope and faith. Just the first couple to be more 'rule' based.

    Peace,

    Tammy

Yes I agree. I was exaggerating. I have defended his rule that women should not speak and it is a shame for women to teach in the congregation and there is no winning it. It is an acceptable point of contention for many kind, thinking persons. They disregard the invitation to "come" just because of that I think. I don't know.

Snare, first back up that Mary did not give her consent and that her life was ruined. It does not seem as though it was from any source that we have.

I thought there was a Portland in Maine...

In the interests of truth I must clarify. Portland Maine probably has tiny mushrooms to buy! And maybe one other town in Maine, OK two might have them. My town doesn't. And the next town and the next.....

My theory? I might as well have the fun that an attention whore gets if I'm one either way! Ya know?

Yes, I know. Good morning, Ms. Drew. I see this debate on God and Atheism is still about where we left it last evening.

Sometimes I suspect that it will never be settled.

BTW - if you have BIG mushrooms in your town, they can always be cut into tiny pieces.

if you have BIG mushrooms in your town, they can always be cut into tiny pieces. OR I can listen to my epiphany which says I can order them in the mail.

    Good afternoon!

That is true, but they can be more expensive that way.

snare&racket. I watched the video. With no sound? Um no. On my son's lap top, is that OK with you?

Nothing I didn't already know though (when you put "know" and "though" together it makes wibble).

Here is my response. Take it or leave it.

"and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness. Matthew 7:23

    And

"And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others." Mark 7:13

It does make wibble - and it also scares away bad robots.

Thank you for that - this thread needed some wibble.

Wibble may be the only thing that can be clearly proven in this thread.

There is more. But I think the question was rhetorical, right?

The question was is there a specific scripture that is understood to make God look bad, but the authentic meaning might make God look good? Because the same strange wording goes with Deuteronomy 20:17 accursed accursed. Please correct me you who knows Hebrew. How does that mean "utterly destroy".

I realize that the spirit behind the scripture means if Israel allows a covenant between themselves and the nations there will be no one left to receive the inheritance. "The meek will inherit the Earth" but to merge with the nations that do not know Jah means there will be no one left for the blessing. Someone mentioned "law" on this thread. The law and the prophets depend on "these two laws"

37 And He said to him, “ ‘Y OU SHALL LOVE THE L ORD YOUR G OD WITH ALL YOUR HEART , AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL , AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND .’ 38 “This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 “The second is like it, ‘Y OU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF .’ 40 “On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The Nations do not do that. The inheritance is the Earth forever. Let's call Earth the baby. There is a baby. It's name is Earth.

One obvious thing to ask is - back in the ancient days of the OT, why didn't God deal with all the people of Earth in the first place? Why just the Jews?

Why would he just as soon kill everybody else on earth except for the Jews?

IMHO - that in itself makes the God of the Jews look bad.
