Despite being an open atheist amongst lots of religious people in my life, I have never been accused of doing this and I have never heard this saying attributed to my choice... appart from here.

The "god of religion" has designed it so that religionists can themselves not tell the baby (the gospel, faith and spirituality) from the bathwater (religion).

And every prayer of yours has been answered? Every one? Really? poosie
    Yes. Really. - Tec

Now I know you are delusional. Try praying for an amputee to get new legs. Or will the answer be the old cop-out "god did answer my prayer but sometimes the answer is no"

The following summary by New Chapter deserves repeating.

Well there is no arguing with any of that then. Things written can be dismissed by simply saying they don't fit with what Jesus said. Things unwritten can be supposed by saying Jesus probably did say it. How can I argue against something that I'm assured PROBABLY existed, but is not here to actually be discussed and questioned. Books can be corrupted, even when directed by an all powerful, incorruptible being. And the fullest truth can be found through spirit, which I cannot access.

It's airtight. Any chinks can be quickly replaced by some mental acrobats. Magic never fails. But it has been interesting to watch unfold. I now understand how hard my brain had to work to hold onto belief all those years. No wonder I feel so much lighter now.

I think my very good point about Deuteronomy chapter 3 got buried. Someone asked me for an example of mis-translation that makes God look bad that I think makes God look good with my measley interpretation that means zero because I did not graduate from Harvard. I should consider it a waste of time, but I don't want to.

If I am right understanding Deuteronomy chapter three it can be powerful two ways.

It could bring down the Watchtower because the NWT is slanderous against JAHWEH.

And it demonstrates God's MERCY. Because as Bashan destroyed every living thing of Sihon Jahweh ordered only the destruction of the men who did it. NOT their women and children.

"But we want to know God (who doesn't exist in our imagination) as evil" We are comfortable that way. So I am one and I am NOT comfortable.

And because I am the only one who "gets it" like Noah "got it" does NOT mean I'm wrong.

And that is why, my dear friends, I have more in common with the atheists than with the believers.

The scripture is understood wrong so atheists reject it. But believers embrace it despite it's slanderous nature.

I should not have posted that. I'm sorry. I did not mean to make this about me, and the above was very personal.

Tec. Sorry if that got personal. It was late, and I should have been more careful. It is how the entire thing felt like to me, and I wasn't really thinking of you personally, but the entire thought process involved.

Cofty, this line of reasoning always makes me smile. My brother is an amputee (one leg) and he is also an atheist that is up for debate. When he makes this comment, it carries a special weight. Especially when speaking to someone who has been healed. He used to really get angry when people told him that god had intervened in his accident and saved him. He would say, "I was an a**hole that got drunk, got on a motorcycle, risked everyones life around me, and got exactly what I should have, and you're telling me that god intervened in my case while an innocent little child died of cancer or starvation? I find that offensive."

But liquid reasoning always prevails. God must have had a purpose. There must be important things in his future. And the dying children? Well there is reasoning for that too. As I said. It is airtight.

The question was, were my prayers answered. Not were the prayers you want me to try answered.

I answered truthfully. (and no, not with that cop-out)

I do not, however, want my prayers answered if they are outside of his will. I submit to God, not the other way around.

God must have had a purpose. There must be important things in his future. And the dying children?

Or, like he said himself... what happened to him was a direct consequence of the choices that he made. Doesn't need to be a reason other than that.

    Peace,

    Tammy
