Still, has anybody ever heard of a "question box" part on any congregational meeting?

Yes, that is a normal part on the Service Meeting, once a month or so. Or it was 10 years ago...

Whenever their is a Question Box article published in Our Kingdom Ministry there is a scheduled part on the meeting to cover the material. It's fairly common. But whether there was such a part on the occasion at issue is something I have no idea of. Do we know the exact date the alleged recording was made? If so perhaps this is a detail that can be reviewed.

OK on the "question box" thing - I have been out for about 35 years and just could not remember ever having this.

On the other hand - would it be very hard to find out who made this recording and ask if the guy really said this stuff?

Despite any queries about the transcript of the verbal letter as it was read, the stance they take,as reported, is going beyond it.

"Such Bible study activity is part of a publisher’s personal ministry and the publisher is not a representative or a volunteer of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia."

Hmm, if one distributes books solely by the WTB&TS , ones activity is reported to the WTS, and included in their annual report of "our activity" then surely you are a rep of that Org, no matter what they say in small print.

I thought that the whole article of Kingdom Ministry 1989 2/3, was interesting

    Our Identification as Jehovah’s Witnesses

As ministers of the good news, we are known publicly as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Our voluntary participation in the field service is motivated by love of God and neighbor. It is not carried on at the insistence of any man or organization but is according to our God-given commission to preach the “good news” and make disciples. (Matt. 24:14; 28:19, 20) Therefore, publishers do well to avoid representing themselves as agents or representatives of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., or any other corporation used by “the faithful and discreet slave” to advance Kingdom interests.—Matt. 24:45-47.

In case of an accident or an emergency or if problems are encountered while working trailer parks, apartments, or certain other territory, publishers may need some form of personal identification beyond giving their name along with a brief Scriptural explanation of the nature of our religious work. If questioned, or when asked for credentials, baptized publishers may use the identification card (S-65) signed by the presiding overseer, which shows one is preaching the good news of the Kingdom in association with the local congregation named on the card.

A supply of identification cards (S-65), which may be issued to baptized publishers when there is a need, will be included with the annual shipment of congregation forms. If any publishers use a personal name card in connection with their field service activities, they should not print thereon that they are representatives of the Watchtower Society.

I remember carrying a card that said I was a minister under the direction of the XYZ Congregation of J W's . I guess the Bethel do not want to know if you get into trouble! Should it be the Cong. that get sued?

Does the fact that this was posted on April 1st have any significance?

I first assumed the "borg" part was a little ad-lib commentary by the original poster ... was Barb duped by an April fools prankster?

If this is a joke, it is sick to play with such a serious topic.

A BIG 10-4 on that. If it is really a joke, it goes BEYOND sick - considering the subject. (child molestation, no less)

Today I was granted private access to listen to the audio recording. I’m told the audio will be released soon for public consumption.

    Here’s my observation:

    1. I do not hear the word “perp”. What I hear is a natural verbal stumble that could be understood as “perp”. But in my opinion “perp” is neither articulated nor on the reader’s mind resulting in a misstatement.

    2. I do not hear the word “borg”. What I hear is a natural verbal stumble that could be understood as “borg”. But in my opinion “borg” is neither articulated nor a Freudian slip.

    3. I do clearly here “brother Van Der Sluis,” but at this point have no reason to think it a hoaxer reference to the infamous “Van Der Sloot”.

    4. My opinion is that the recording is genuine.

Bottom line is the WT society leaders , legal team, and representatives will throw individual JW's under the bus by claiming they aren't representatives of the WT society- which is a bold faced lie totally. This was done purely to save the WT society's legal behind. It's sickening. Thanks for the article Barbara, we appreciate it
