Its like playing chess with somebody who makes up how the pieces move as they go along.

Even a tiny amount of study of real science would help you sort out loads of your own miscomprehensions about the world Sab.

"Really? All life didn't come from the sky? You mean the earth just started out with land and sea? ..." Sab, post 7770, page 5

You really need to read various science books, not just the bible and the I Ching....

The earth didn't start out "with land and sea"....

And as I said above, that two-year-old brat had better develop some "survival instincts" of his/her own, or face their own personal extinction.

What happened was the brain of the human skyrocketed in evolution 50,000 years ago. At that point love for child became more important to homo sapiens. With that came presents for the dead and the idea of an afterlife. The very idea of an afterlife is moral because of the suffering that has existed for all life. Only after this specific evolution took place did the idea of being with the people you love forever even become fathomable.

I will refrain from using sarcasm in type with you. I am well aware of this fact. The point of the sarcasm was that the earth DIDN'T start out with land and sea. It was all brought in from space. Anything that comes in from space comes from the SKY. So when you ridicule believers when using the term "sky daddy" you are actually accurately describing God. The one who throws asteroids around so that water came to the earth.

"So the deadly spider aided human evolution, then?..." Sab, page 5, post #7769

    How could it?

It was around for over 420 million years before HUMANS [Homo sapien] arose...

You've totally mis-read the comment, again, and have made the comment ALL ABOUT HUMANS, instead of looking AT THE FACTS...

It is ALL about the humans. Do chimps have our highly evolved morality? You can see some in their eyes, but you can tell it's only in infancy. Should we ask the dolphins what to do about our tsetse fly problem?

    Aaaaand you're wrong again.

Dr. J. Harrod, PhD, of Syracuse University, NY, has researched the origins of religion, and states a strong case for religion arising AMONG CHIMPANZEES....

[edited] And here's page 2... And 3... And another paper on the subject...

AND religion existed BEFORE HOMO SAPIEN. Look up "Berekhat Ram" figurine, carved IN ISRAEL by HOMO ERECTUS, well over 132,000 years before Homo sapiens arose...

Really, Sab, you need to stop perusing philosophy and start looking at factual sciences, instead...

Of course spiders affected human evolution. Why would we have phobias of them? We get phobias because a spider scares us when we are young and we develop PTSD from the traumatic event. However, the event was not necessarily dangerous in reality. Most spiders are not deadly, however there must have been a time when they were because it's in our genetics. Some people can hold spiders and some would rather you cut off their left foot. I tend towards the latter.

We have coyotes in a greenbelt we live on. My son knew that the howling at night wasn't good, it frightened him. The same happens with a kitten or a puppy because they recognize the danger in their genetic memory (just a postulation). That's my theory because I don't see an explantion for fearing a sound of something you have never seen or even know exists or have even seen anything even remotely like it.

It could be explained by a general genetic fear of the unknown, but then why do some unknown things present no internal threat to the mind? This could also be evidence of some sort of genetic memory to tell friend from foe.

PhD? Syracuse? Just a framed opinion. He'd be fun to debate with.
