You really don't think that YHWH would set loose a venomous snake in his garden with his newly created children would you? If you do then I see why you hate him. - Sab

I'm sorry, were you in this thread for the last 2 hours?

Show me where it says he let it loose? It says he created a crafty being that bamboozled him somehow and snuck into his garden. Why is that hard to grasp?

"Zid, and anyone else in this thread. If you had a way to painlessly end all human life would you? It would end suffering as well as joy. One button: would you push it? Why or why not? ..." sab, above

No need to... With morons around claiming that some Middle-Eastern OR Far-Eastern "god" "created" us, and is still trying to control our lives, the human race will go extinct far faster than the dinosaurs did...

And your comments in your post # 7757 made absolutely NO sense, whatsoever... I have not used the term "evil" [edited - in the post that you replied to, at that time...]; that tends to be a theist's concept....

Genesis 3 - 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

Notice how YHWH doesn't ask, "Were you with that serpent that I gave the keys to this place?" He genuinely seems to have been had, which seems an inevitability, but not something he could necessarily prevent.

Evil is a logical foundation for morality which is a highly evolved sense of self and other that occurs in homo sapiens. It doesn't actually exist in as concrete a way that most of us use it in casual discussion or debate. Good however is much easier to define. Good could be easily defined by general selflessness. Selfishness, however is not always evil. Sometimes self absorption is required in human healing processes.

You've just spent the last 2 hours rambling on, trying to deliver a cogent argument about why it's acceptable that God created something as dastardly as tsetse flies, which kill hundreds of thousands of people each year.

But you wouldn't worship a God that allowed a poisonous snake in the Garden of Eden?

Hell no I wouldn't. And I am cautious with the word worship, though. I don't openly worship anything. I am in a state of searching.

A slightly less than accurate description of said events. In my first post I did say that I am totally comfortable with calling the loss of life from the tsetse fly an impossible mystery due to lack of information.
