Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?

I thought I was clear that I thought it was sad that people needed an imaginary god to show them how to be loving.

    I see.

And how do you know they have an imaginary god showing them to be loving (that makes no sense to me, but...)?

Your position (I think) is that you have no evidence of God.

This is a far cry from being able to state there there is no God. If another person has evidence, then the most you can continue to state with any accuracy is that their evidence means nothing to you, and proves nothing to you. But you cannot make an accurate (factual) statement that their God is imaginary.

Now this is judgemental...who is lying? And how are they sick because of these so called lies?

Some people stop believing in God altogether, because of the lies they believed about him. They reject the lie... but might not have rejected the truth, had they known Him.

Oh... and the liars are people like the WTS. (or the pharisees who told people that they were sinners and under a 'curse' back in those days)

That is who i was thinking of.

Of course---god really can't be expected to comfort those that are hurt by MAN for godsakes.

Wait a minute: WHO wants to take credit for making mankind again? Was that Darwin? Or was it YHWH?

I made a video about that, with YHWH always willing to take the credit for making man, but not wanting to accept the blame.

(premise is a couple of product liability lawyers who run an infomercial, looking for injured parties (like all the drug product liability ads you see).

They want to sue God Almighty, using principles of product liability law, for making a defective product (mankind), then screwing up the recall (the Flood), and then calling off further efforts to fix the problem when the Flood goes horribly wrong)

    Enjoy!

Who says he can't comfort? Who says he does not comfort?

You think people cannot be comforted through their pain and suffering? What does comfort mean to you?

I have answerd Cofty, btw. I even went to his theistic evolution thread, though i think my post got lost in the debate raging on.

Man is much more powerful than your lord, btw.

Then man should at least be able to end the suffering to others caused by man.

    Pop quiz:

Did God ever give man the responsibility and authority to avenge crimes/sins (such as murder)? Yes or No?

If yes, where in the Bible is this authority granted to man?

No, it would appear that humans that seek to end suffering are less powerful than those that would cause suffering, and those that would cause suffering are more powerful than your god, but your lord WILL pat them on the shoulder and say, "there, there, now" as they are starving, being raped, pushed into slavery, being abused---he's a real stand-up kind of lord---passing around all that comfort.

We ALL cause suffering. Some unintentionally, and certainly to greater and lesser degrees. But none of us can say that we have never hurt or wronged another human being. (exempting children) We are all guilty of causing suffering in this world.

Sol, why do you persist in thinking that I would care about anything OVER what my Lord teaches?

He said turn the other cheek. He said forgive. He said show mercy. He said give to him that asks of you, and then some.

(though even in the OT, it is written that vengeance belongs to God... not to man... just sayin')

That is just man telling himself what he wants to hear in order to justify his own desires.

I believe you just perfectly summed up your faith and belief in Jesus.

Christ used parables that includes slaves as people... so not an excuse.

And never ONCE bothered to say "Oh, and by the way, shouldn't own other people." No excuse.

And what desire would that be?

And never ONCE bothered to say "Oh, and by the way, shouldn't own other people." No excuse.

His teachings and deeds said this. If one chose not to see or hear this.. then nothing can make them hear. Because as you demonstrated... they could simply delegate some people as being less than human (not people), in order to justify enslaving and/or abusing them.
