Defense of someone weaker doesn't make it murder. Moses killed someone who wasn't killing him and wasn't killing someone else. He escalated the level of violence far beyond what it already was. It was murder.

Why don't you just go back to Ancient Egypt? It sounds like you really liked it there. You could get a job in the baby killing industry.

Well, I'm just gonna go out on a crazy limb here ;)...and suggest that there were plenty of slave drivers who beat and/or worked slaves to death. The violence was already there in the slavers to the slaves. The only thing that could have escalated the violence would have been an all-out war between the two.

That doesn't even begin to make sense. I think you're trying to insult me? No idea what you are on about with baby killing. I mean, your God was pretty awesome at that, not sure how it relates to this conversation, though.

Bible doesn't say he was no longer an Egyptian after the murder.

If you treat Bible stories like textbook historical records you will come to ridiculous conclusions like this one (lacking imagination is your worst foe). All you have to do is understand that Moses was saved BY God from infanticide and used to liberate the Hebrews from enslavement. He was never meant to live and die in Egypt and he felt this throughout his Egyptian life. There was something missing and when he saw the Hebrew being beaten it all became clear to him. He was not an Egyptian or else he wouldn't have killed one. Moses is the good guy in the story who has to make very tough, godly, decisions.

The point is, you pick and choose, same as everyone. That reasoning falls flat once you try to use it in the real world. See my example above.

I 'pick and choose' based on the Truth of Christ. I am not ashamed to admit to that. I've never tried to hide it. I look to Christ, first and foremost.

What do you base your 'picking and choosing' upon?

Outlaw, I don't think we can conclude that "educated theologians" never have axes to grind. We are all human with human flaws. It's not impossible that there is a conspiracy going on. To dismiss that possibility by appealing to human authority isn't wise. I am not dismissing the possibility that they are right, however I need to follow the same path they followed in order to be sure. Not just watch a convincing documentary series.

What is the term for this kind of argument? I'll give some more examples. Criticize the president, and someone may tell you to just move out of the country. Criticize a person, and that person may say, yeah, I'm a horrible person, why do you even want to talk to me? Say you like oranges, and someone may reply, well why don't you marry them then?

There is a term for it, but I can't remember. I'd like to know since this has always struck me as the weakest, cheapest, most aggravating way to argue.

Exactly, it would be better if EP didn't address me. He continues to disrespect me when he doesn't have to. He's a sick man and the fact that you can't see this genuinely frightens me.

How did I know you were going to say that?

Adding that in is simply adding in a justification of your own making. That bit doesn't exists in this narrative. It's wishful thinking to justify the murder. On a side note, YHWH (and, by extension, his Son, his image, who supported every letter of the law) said was was 100% A-OK to beat your slaves to death as long as it took them a day or two to die.

The only thing that could have escalated the violence would have been an all-out war between the two.

Or random murders. That's a step in between all-out war.
